ALL THAT REMAINS Guitarist Oli Herbert Has Died, RIP

Shocking, sad news to report this morning. All That Remains founding guitarist Oli Herbert has passed away.

The band confirmed the news but no cause of death was announced. (Update: A cause of death was announced a few hours after the publication of this article, and is included in the update below) He was only 44 years old. Here is their statement:

We were devastated to learn that Oli Herbert, our friend, guitar player, and founding member of All That Remains, has passed away.

Oli was an incredibly talented guitarist and song writer who defined Rock and Metal from the Northeast. His impact on the genres and our lives will continue indefinitely.

No further details are available at this time. The band and family request that you please respect their privacy and remember Oli by celebrating the great music he made.

Oli has been with All That Remains since 1998 and played on all nine of their studio albums.

Our deepest and most sincere condolences to Oli's family and friends.

Update: Oli's widow Beth, has posted a short update requesting privacy and saying the family will make a statement when they are ready.

Update #2: Oli's personal publicist released a statement noting he died due to an accident in his home. Here is the statement:

On behalf of Oli’s wife and family I can confirm that Oli Herbert passed away yesterday unexpectedly as a result of an accident which occurred on the property of his home. He was 44 years old. No further details are being released at this time. Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced once that information is available. The family requests for privacy during this time but does wish to express their appreciation to fans worldwide for the outpouring of condolences.

Update #3: TMZ reports that local authorities have stated Oli was found dead in a pond near by Connecticut home. No foul play is expected.

We're told police were dispatched to Oli's Stafford Springs home Tuesday afternoon after someone reported him missing. Cops searched the area and found Oli in a nearby pond.

Police sources say the death does not appear to be suspicious, but an autopsy needs to be performed to confirm the cause and manner of death. The Connecticut medical examiner is investigating.
