MAYHEM FEST 2011 Lineup and Full Itinerary Announced (DISTURBED, GODSMACK, MEGADETH)

Rockstar Mayhem Fest has inched it's way to becoming the biggest traveling metal festival of the summer in the United States and this year's lineup proves there is something for everybody. On the main stage, we have Disturbed and Godsmack sharing the headlining position, with MegaDave and Megadeth providing direct support.

Machine Head, In Flames and Trivium will alternate between opening the main stage and headlining the secondary stages. On the "Extreme" stage, we have Suicide Silence, All Shall Perish and Straight Line Stich and on the Jagermeister Stage, we have Unearth, Kingdom of Sorrow, Red Fang and local Jager openers.

In my personal opinion, this lineup is certainly way more appealing than last year's providing an eclectic mix of mainstream and underground bands. I'm always pumped to see Megadeth, and hey, look at this way…if you don't like Disturbed or Godsmack, that just means you can leave early! If you only like Disturbed and Godsmack, then they will be worth the price of admission for you, and you can choose to sleep in and show up very fashionably late or show up early and check out some bands you may not have heard of.

UPDATE: There are lineup changes on the San Bernardino, Mountain View and Montreal dates. On July 9 in San Bernardino, California, Dethklok will perform in the place of Megadeth, and Testament will perform in the place of In Flames. Testament will also perform in the place of In Flames on the July 10 Mountain View, California date. Megadeth will not be appearing on the Montreal, Quebec, Canada Heavy MTL date.

In what has become a yearly tradition, as sponsors of the festival, we will be giving away tickets to every stop of the tour. The giveaway will happen a few months closer to the festival so be on the lookout for our biggest giveaway of the year! Here is the routing of the tour: (more…)

Kirk Windstein to enter rehab; skipping Ozzfest

Kirk WindsteinKirk Windstein, of Crowbar, Down and Kingdom of Sorrow always struck me as a fun partier. For one, the guy had bigger bags under his eyes, than your local sanitation department, indicating to me he was stoned at most points of the day. Now, word comes in via official press release, that Kirk is trying to sober up, and is entering an AA program. Here is a message from the man himself: (more…)

Post Memorial Day A/V Roundup: Full album streams from WATAIN, KINGDOM OF SORROW, THE FUNERAL PYRE; New music from HELLYEAH, IN THIS MOMENT, MYCHILDREN MYBRIDE, ED GEIN

Woah woah woah! We leave for one weeked to get some grillin' done (and in Rob's case, some moving) and all this new music pops up. It must be my birfday! Or just another A/V Roundup. Let's go!

There are FULL album streams aplenty today. First off, MetalSucks brings the kvlt with a full album stream of Watain's first release in three years, Lawless Darkness. Any fan of Watain, will not need any hype from me to get excited about this release. Secondly, Kingdom of Sorrow, the brainchild of Kirk Windstein and Jamey Jasta is streaming their fantastic new release, Behind The Blackest Tears on their MySpace page. And finally, Lambgoat is streaming blackened death metal act The Funeral Pyre'sVultures of Dawn.

Noisecreep got their hands on another new Hellyeah track, "Hell Of A Time". This one is a bit slower, but still 100% country metal.

In This Moment have posted the first track off their new CD, called "The Gun Show" on their MySpace page. They had to know that a lot of people would immediately just think of this scene from Anchorman right?

MyChildren MyBride have posted a third new track on their MySpace page called "Lost Boys". It's everything you would want out of modern metalcore, if modern metalcore is what you want out of music.

Finally, a band we covered very early on in the life of Metal Injection, Ed Gein have posted a new song on their MySpace page called "The Spectacle". As an old time fan of Ed Gein's spastic avant grind, I am very pleased.

Friday Audio Roundup: New Music from AS I LAY DYING, KINGDOM OF SORROW & KEEP OF KALESSIN

The weekend is upon, and we are here to bring you some new tunes to get you through the weekend!

Just as we were about to post this, we got a press release saying As I Lay Dying will be streaming their new album, The Powerless Rise, all weekend on their MySpace page. I sampled a few of the tracks and this is certainly some of the heaviest music the band has written. It's certainly worth checking out if you've ever been into the band. Also, check out the 6 studio diary videos the band has posted.

Kingdom of Sorrow, the band featuring Jamey Jasta of Hatebreed and Kirk Windstein have posted a second mp3 on their MySpace page called "Enlightened to Extinction". Sounds fuckin' awesome. I'm really pumped for their upcoming release, Behind The Blackest Tears, out June 8th on Relapse.

Finally, our brostafas at MetalSucks are hosting a full album stream of Keep of Kalessin’s new album Reptilian. Those dudes can't shutup about it, I played a track or two randomly and I will definitely be heading back to hear the album in full. Very heavy, very troo.

Full OZZFEST 2008 Details: One day event in Dallas, headlined by Ozzy and Metallica

There has been a lot of speculation about what's happening with this year's OZZFEST , but all of that was put to rest when the official announcement was made today. OZZFEST 2008 will be a one-day event on Saturday, August 9 at Pizza Hut Park in Dallas, Texas. There will be three stages and the lineup is as follows:

Main Stage:
OZZY OSBOURNE
METALLICA
SERJ TANKIAN
HELLYEAH
JONATHAN DAVIS
CAVALERA CONSPIRACY
SHADOWS FALL
APOCALYPTICA
IN THIS MOMENT

All-Star Tribute To "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott

Second Stage
SEVENDUST
DEVILDRIVER
KINGDOM OF SORROW
SOILENT GREEN
WITCHCRAFT
GOATWHORE

Texas (Third) Stage which will pay "homage to the many great metal bands that come from Texas":
THE SWORD
DROWNING POOL
RIGOR MORTIS

Looks like a pretty stacked lineup, for sure. Obviously, with it being Dallas, and Vinnie Paul being there, they almost have to do a Dimebag tribute, and it should be interesting to see with all those notable artists there. Would you guys go?
