CHIMAIRA Vocalist Arrested For Pot, Misses San Antonio Show

markhunter-mia1

Chimaira vocalist Mark Hunter was arrested yesterday in El Paso, Texas for possession of marijuana during a routine traffic stop. Due to this, he wasn't able to perform last night at the band's gig in San Antonio. The band's keyboardist and backup vocalist Sean Z, who also is the frontman for DAATH, filled in for him. Here is what he had to say about his arrest on Twitter: (more…)

Kevin Talley dives in SIX FEET UNDER

by: James Zalucky

So apparently Six Feet Under recently lost their rhythm section, with bassist Terry Butler and drummer Greg Gall taking off. Understandably this has sent frontman Chris Barnes hunting for new members to fill the void. There are a lot of experienced musicians out there who have either played with multiple bands and are known as such. One such man is Kevin Talley, who has made his name with acts like Daath, Chimaira, Misery Index, Hate Eternal, Suffocation, and of course Dying Fetus. (…and many, many others)

A performance record like that makes Talley a solid choice, and hopefully he'll add a much needed spark to the band's sound, as he has been announced as the new drummer for the band. In the meantime, check out this footage of Kevin Talley in the studio with Daath:

10. Mose Giganticus – Gift Horse

"A one man synth punk band" may sound like a joke to some, but I assure you there is nothing funny about the talented song writings of Matt Garfield. Between his unique vocal style, excellent relationship between harmony and groove, and some of the most clever use of a keyboards I've heard in years, this was an easy pick for my top 10. Gift Horse is such a fun record that really lends itself to any mood you may be in. Whether you're angry, happy, horny, or constipated this record has what you need! (more…)

CHIMARIA, DAATH announce slew of December shows

Click Here To Watch The Video

Good news: Chimaria, Daath, Impending Doom and This Or The Apocalypse are going out on the road for what's being called the "Blue Collar Brawler" tour. Bad news: The tour is only two weeks long and hits limited east coast markets. We don't even get a New York show. That totally blows, because I had way too good a time, the last time the Daath guys came around. If you are near any of these shows, I highly suggest you make it out: (more…)

Get an "Indestructible Overdose" of New DAATH Music

Daath have posted a second new track, "Indestructible Overdose" on their Youtube page. The track sounds great and is probably a solid indication of the direction of the new material. This is one of my most anticipated releases of the year. What do you guys think of the track?

Daath's forthcoming self-titled release hits stores 10/26/2010.

Labor Day Weekend A/V Roundup: DAATH, Devin Townsend, ALL THAT REMAINS, KYLESA and more

The Labor Day weekend is upon us. And you might want some new tunes to go along with all the grilling you will be doing all weekend. Thus, here we are with some help…

Devin Townsend has posted a teaser for Ghost, the final album in his quadrilogy. You may ask, wait, where is the third, supposedly heavy, album? Devin states "THIS IS NOT THE HEAVY ALBUM, that one is next…but they both get released simultaneously so all us misanthropes will have something to vent with before reading a National Geo to Ghost." Lovely! Check out the teaser above.

Our Charles Bro-sons over at MetalSucks have premiered a CRUSHING new track from our Atlanta homeboys in DAATH. The track may be under three minutes long, but it packs so much punch you really won't know what hit you. Multiple listens are definitely required. I am so pumped for this record. Is it October yet?

Georgia peaches Kylesa have posted a new track on their MySpace page, which sounds pretty much like the Kylesa sound of previous records, which is to say, if you liked their previous stuff, you should expect to dig this too.

All That Remains have premiered a new track, "Hold On" on Youtube, and while the first single, "For We Are the Many" was a relatively heavy affair, this takes the band back to the pop-metal ways of the last album. Not necessarily for me, but I know a good amount of you junkies might appreciate them.

If you haven't been keeping up with Every Time I Die's web series, Shit Happens, now is a great time to start.

DAATH Issue Update on Upcoming Release

Our good friends in DAATH have released more information about their upcoming release. The album, their third official release, will be self-titled and released through Century Media on October 26th. The album is being produced by Mark Lewis (All That Remains, Devildriver, Trivium) and guitarist Eyal Levi. I am incredibly excited about this release. Their last record, Concealers was beginning-to-end incredible. It did not leave my record player for months, and I have a feeling this will not be any different. SkullsNBones.com have been hanging out in the studio and have posted this footage of vocalist Sean Z. going through his different types of screams…

Levi/Werstler post first taste of their upcoming epic instrumental album

While we were at NAMM, Eyal Levi, guitarist of DAATH gave me and Frank a sneak peak and his upcoming instrumental album with fellow DAATH guitarist Emil Werstler, with Sean Reinert of CYNIC on drums. To say we were impressed is an understatement. The 20 or so minutes we heard were fucking incredible. (It also helped that were hot boxing in his rental car). Well, now you can get your first taste of this masterpiece as they have posted a track on their merch page (scroll down, it's on the right side). I've listened three times and I'm still not bored. The sound is obviously very reminiscent of DAATH, but still has it's own flavor to it. I will certainly be picking this one up, when it's released on 4/20.
