I've always found the practice of naming such a strange and fascinating concept. Today more than ever we put such a huge importance on finding the right name for things be it a nick name, stage name, band name, or even a profile user name. I'm sure at some point in your life you've even thought about changing your own birth name to something cooler.

I started wondering about all the names in metal history we've come to know and love, who they started out as, and more importantly how their new names came to be. After several nights of research I was legitimately shocked to learn how many names in metal aren't birth names at all, this list barely even scratches the surface. But for the sake of keeping things interesting, I included only the names that had a back story I can write about.

SLASH Gets Star On Hollywood Walk of Fame; Charlie Sheen Uses The Moment To Trash AXL ROSE

Slash got the royal Hollywood treatment yesterday, as he got a star on the Hollywood walk of fame, something I thought was really cool until I learned you actually have to pay $30,000 for your star. Regardless, it's still quite the honor to be nominated, and Slash took the day in with his family and his closest friends, including Hollywood trainwreck Charlie Sheen. AXL ROSE Actually Shows Up To Jury Duty

Celebrities, they're just like us! They all poop, they all sleep and they all serve jury duty. This includes "Fat" Axl Rose, formerly just Axl Rose of Guns N Roses.  FAxl has just completed serving a four day stint on jury duty in Santa Monica, CA for a civil trial, and he's actually been showing up! I guess when the government tells FAxl to show up on time, in the morning no less, FAxl makes it a point to get there.  (more…)
