PSYOPUS Forging A Comeback?
Everybody knows I
love hate Psyopus, the avant grind band from Rochester, NY. We only have a million videos featuring the band when they were active (fun fact: they are the first band we ever interviewed for Metal Injection). Recently, the band has been on extended hiatus, with main man/guitarist Chris Arp just selling books and dvds of music instruction on eBay. But it looks like he's trying to get the old band back together. Here is the message he posted on his personal Facebook page:
Guess what guys, … it looks like there is a Psyopus reunion coming with 3/4 original line up. We just need to figure out how to play the songs. Any suggestions?
In a later comment on the post, Arp confirmed that the lineup will consist of original vocalist Adam Frappolli, original bassist Fred Decoste, and drummer Jason Bauers, who was with the band before their hiatus. Original drummer Greg Herman has relocated to North Carolina and has a family now, so it's understandable why he's not able to take part in the reunion, but this certainly excites me.
Here is a look at some of my favorite videos we have on file with the band:
Psyopus and Fuck The Facts cover Metallica's "Master of Puppets"
Psyopus Pajama Party at New England MetalFest
Another Psyopus interview at New England Metalfest the next year
Hanging out with the band in a McDonalds after they played a show at CBGBs, 2004
Long live the 'opus!
