NOT A JOKE: Couple Encounters Black Metal Band In The Woods During Engagement Photo Shoot

This is the greatest story of the year.

This is the greatest story of the year.

Sometimes it's really hard to seperate fact from fiction on the internet, and when I stumbled on a story titled "Couple Encounters a Black Metal Band in Woods During Engagement Shoot," I thought wow, The Hard Times really knocked it out of the park with other great satirical piece. But then, I looked and saw the story was actually posted on ABC News. This is a real story!

A couple was planning a photo shoot in the woods of Jim Canyon, California, for their engagement, and incidentally their names are John Awesome and Nydia Hernandez, so the future Mr. and Mrs. Awesome are in the woods and suddenly… they encounter a rising black metal band, Coldvoid.

Awesome tells ABC News that while they were shooting, they "noticed a few guys with some corpse paint makeup on sitting at a nearby bench blaring out some black metal music" and thought it'd be funny to get them to be a part of the engagement shoot. He said the band was happy to accept and noted they were "super nice people. I seriously can't make this stuff up."

Then, ABC News wrote perhaps the two most metal paragraphs in the news organization's many years of existance:

Dressed in head-to-toe black clothing with lots of leather and spikes, Coldvoid even had creepy props with them, including a candelabrum, nails and swords, which definitely made for interesting engagement pictures when they crashed the background of the lovebirds’ sweet poses.

“They gave us a copy of their new demo and it was the perfect eerie soundtrack for the drive out of the woods,” said Wheeland. “It was a perfect, spontaneous finale to our photo shoot. We couldn't have planned it better.”

The couple plan to marry in the fall of next year and when asked how they could possibly top this photo shoot, they joked “If this band ends up crashing our wedding reception.”

We looked up Coldvoid, and it seems as though their demo is not yet available, but you could follow them on Facebook and check out their music video below:
