SLAYER Drummer Lets Us Know Where His Bandmates Were During The Big Four Jam

By now, I'm sure you've seen the above footage of members of the Big Four of Thrash getting together and jamming out on Diamondhead's classic track "Am I Evil?" The one thing you would notice from the video, is 3/4ths of Slayer are nowhere to be found. Only drummer Dave Lombardo came out for the jam and that left many wondering why, including one reporter who asked Dave about it in a recent interview:

"I'm the only one who knows how to jam and have a good time! The other guys, they don't do that kind of thing. They just know their music when it's written and that's it — they don't know how to go up and improvise and enjoy themselves. Jeff [Hanneman; guitar] does a little bit, but not the other guys [bassist/vocalist Tom Araya and guitarist Kerry King]."

Hmm, so what I gather from this is they feel like they're too cool to jam. Either that or they must think they suck as musicians and can't play something they haven't rehearsed a million times.

Either way, you can still watch each of the Big Four's ENTIRE sets from their recent overseas festival shows right here.
