OPETH To Play All Of Ghost Reveries In London Next Year

That sound you're hearing is everyone FREAKING THE HELL OUT.

That sound you're hearing is everyone FREAKING THE HELL OUT.

To celebrate the band's 25th anniversary, Opeth announced they will play all of the Ghost Reveries album on October 18, 2015, in addition to a second set of classics that span the band's career. The event will take place the London Palladium and tickets will be on sale Friday, November 14. I use the term "on sale" loosely, as I'm sure they're going to be sold out within minutes of being available to the public.

Frontman and guitarist Mikael Åkerfeldt shed a little light on the whole ordeal.

"The forces that be put up a very mystical and subtle little advert on the so called internet. Yes, we will celebrate 25 years of being Opeth in 2015 and this is reason enough to gather up the forces and play. For you. At the Palladium in London. Not sure if they have a dress-code there, as it is a posh little place. Do we care? No we don’t. It will be a pretty unique evening I reckon, hopefully free of technical difficulties. No thanks to Baal! With that said, we are a live band in the true sense of the word and you can never be certain. Regardless it will be a blast and I strongly advise you to think about attending. But don’t think for too long. It might cost you your seat! We’re currently on tour (Hey! Thanks European progrockdeathmetalheads! You are absolutely fantastic and we love you!) and I’m being called for, so gotta dash. Ta-ta!"

Maybe this show will bay the hounds of "OPETH IZ NOT METALZ NEMORE" for a little while. Probably not, but maybe. Just as the band has done in the past with monumental shows, I'm willing to bet this will be recorded for a live album to be released in early 2016. Is it bad I'm already excited for a tentative live album that's going to maybe be released over one year from right now? Because I am.

The band also has a fairly extensive list of former members throughout their career too, so I'm wondering if they'll have any of them come up and play during the show? All will be revealed soon! We hope.
