Greg Puciato Talks KILLER BE KILLED Guest Spot, New Unorthodox THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN Single Release

New music from both bands! So much new, interesting information!

New music from both bands! So much new, interesting information!

The Dillinger Escape Plan vocalist Greg Puciato is a busy man, between his main band and new super group Killer Be Killed.

TotalRockRadio caught up with Puciato recently and asked him about both projects and the answers were interesting at the very least. First Puciato revealed that ex-Torche guitarist Juan Montoya will be on the upcoming Killer Be Killed record, providing some odd guitar solo and general noise-laden mayhem.

“We also had Juan Montoya from…, he used to be in Torche—I don’t know if you’re familiar with Torche—but this guy Juan Montoya who was in that band Torche; he came in and played some lead guitar, too, on a few tracks. Like just some weird feedback, noisey kinda Kim Thayill-type stuff.”

Then Puciato talked about The Dillinger Escape Plan re-releasing their latest album One of Us Is the Killer with a whole bunch of bonus stuff, which should be cool. He doesn't give too much away, but enough to make fans of the band excited.

“I know that we’re re-releasing the record with a bunch of bonus songs, some covers and some demos and that’s in the works.”

Finally, Puciato touches on the band's new song "Happiness Is a Smile," which will be released exclusively on tour on cassette and 7" only. The band have been receiving some interesting comments about their choice of release, and I was even a little leery of the whole thing, but Puciato makes sense of it.

“We wrote a new song and we didn’t feel like hanging on to it forever and adding it to a full-length. So we just said ‘fuck it’, this is really random, it never happens—like we only really write when we are planning on writing an album. So for us to have like a song done in the middle of a pre-existing album cycle is really abnormal for us, so we just went into the studio and recorded it and we’re just going to self-release it.”

I guess if you're going to have fun with releasing a new song, then don't hold back!
