Exclusive MP3 Premiere: ENSLAVED "The Sleeping Gods"

Enslaved devotees tend to celebrate the band's entire catalog; I'm no exception to this axiom.  An Enslaved album is something to digest over the course of time, providing soundscapes we slowly absorb and assimilate.  After the expansive glory of last year's Axioma Ethica Odini, Enslaved fans had little reason to expect new music from the band in the near future.  Thanks to the kind folks at Scion A/V, new Enslaved music is exactly what we've got.

The Sleeping Gods EP will be available for free download, and you can sample some of its mind-blowing excellence right here.  Over the course of five tracks and 28 minutes, The Sleeping Gods serves up a diverse feast of blackened Viking folk, prog and ambient psychedelia that will engage you more than playing bingo and challenge your metal mind.  These tracks display the superlative songwriting skills we've come to expect from Enslaved, delivered with addictive, headbanging immediacy.

I've expended significant cash and energy over the years in tracking down Enslaved LPs. You can bet I appreciate this gratis bit of greatness, and Enslaved fans around the world will undoubtedly feel the same way. The Sleeping Gods will be a righteous addition to your music collection.

The Sleeping Gods Track Listing:
1. Heimvegen
2. Alu Misyrki
3. Synthesis
4. Nordlys
5. The Sleeping Gods

The artwork is pretty good. Even thought the eye of providence is a little played out it still looks pretty original.

    ..scion still sucks

Unrelated annoyance: some stupid ad widget started playing Coldplay in the background while I was checking this song out.

  3. Pretty awesome. Go Scion for helping REAL bands out instead of backing the easy buck and backing something like Lil Wayne or something gay like that. I hope everyone cans this sellout bullshit and just enjoys the music and thanks Scion for helping a hardworking band out. If they had put their name on something bigger and poppy everyone would say why don't they help out bands that actually need it like *insert band name here*. Please be happy they're helping out one of our favorite bands so that they can continue to afford to tour and play for us and put out records for us. Let it die here eh?
