Well, son a bitch. I was all excited that a new Dream Theater album was coming this October, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. The band has been in the studio since February with some breaks for touring and whatnot throughout the year, and according to guitarist John Petrucci, the album is still being worked on both in and out of the studio.
"We've been in the studio since January. In fact, this tour has broken up our time in the studio. In fact, we're doing some work here on the road as well. We're very busy in hotel rooms, [doing] some last-minute writing and getting some things done. But, yeah, we've been in the studio since January. It's going great. We'll be wrapping up probably in the fall and it'll come out early next year."
I loved Dream Theater's self-titled in 2013, and if it means we'll be getting a record of that caliber again, then waiting the extra few months for new music is absolutely worth it! Just… dammit, you know? I was looking forward to some fall driving with new Dream Theater in my ears. I guess winter driving with new Dream Theater will be good as well!
