LINKIN PARK's Chester Benington To Critical Fans: "Move The Fuck On From Hybrid Theory"

Some fans are not all too into the new Linkin Park sound. When the band released their first new single, "Heavy," the track was anything but. The majority of readers who took our poll voted that "Linkin Park has really let me down with this one." Their second single, "Battle Symphony" further pushed the band into what seems like adult contemporary.

Now, frontman Chester Bennington is tired of the complaining. According to NME, Bennington spoke to Music Week and you can sorta tell he's over it:

“When we made Hybrid Theory, I was the oldest guy in the band and in my early ’20s. That’s why I guess I’m like: ‘Why are we still talking about ‘Hybrid Theory’? It’s fucking years ago. It’s a great record, we love it. Like, move the fuck on. You know what I mean?”

It's hard to expect the band to be true to a sound of an album they released seventeen (!) years ago, but some fans have taken to say that Bennington and the rest of Linkin Park have "sold out," a claim that doesn't phase Bennington in the least:

“We were asked, ‘What do you think of people who say you sold out?’ I don’t care. If you like the music, fantastic. If you don’t like it, that’s your opinion too. Fantastic. If you’re saying we’re doing what we’re doing for a commercial or monetary reason, trying to make success out of some formula… then stab yourself in the face!” he laughed.

Surely, this might annoy some longtime Linkin Park fans, but I'm guessing Bennington isn't too worried about it.

Linkin Park's new album, One More Light, comes out next Friday, May 19. The CD version of the album is on sale for $9.99 on Amazon.
