Former BLACK DAHLIA MURDER shredder, drummer form new band, GRAVES ABLAZE

gravesablaze One year ago, we got bummed out that BLACK DAHLIA MURDER guitarist John Kempainen quit the band. Since then, the band has found a suitable replacement in former ARSIS axeman Ryan Knight, but many still wondered what would happen to Kempainen, who was a talented guitarist in his own right. Well, looks like he's formed a new band with an old friend, original BDM drummer Cory Grady called GRAVES ABLAZE (pictured, right).

The two have posted a pretty rad demo on their MySpace page. The band has posted a blog stating they are looking for a vocalist, second guitarist, and bassist who "are ready to tour their asses off by this summer after writing the debut." Sounds like we won't have to wait long to hear more new music out of these two, and I am definitely interested! What do you guys think?

too bad this sounds EXACTLY like BDM….what else would we expect…ex drummmer and ex guitarist….they couldn't change it up at all? that demo might as well be a BDM song if it isn't already…

just like graves of valor sound just like TTEOTD because its 3/5 the band!!!!

Wow thtas a little weird. I wonder who wrote the songs for them. Cuz when john was with BDM everyone else wrote his shit and he just went out and played it. No wonder why it sounds like BDM. And why are they so eager to tour when he wasnt really into when he was with BDM. Now all of a sudden he wants to tour again but its not going to be the same. They dont even have a album out yet while BDM has four now. And BDM doesnt play small bars anymore like this band will be. Sounds like he knew me made a mistake but its already too late and now he wants to get back by doing his own thing.

I agree 100% with Warborn, also we don't hate. Metalheads are the most passionate about their music so we can critic every last bit of shit that comes our way. I personaly think its a stupid move on both of their parts to come out sounding the exact same as BDM. Shouldn't have left the band…..

To me, this band retains the elements I love about BDM that seem to be missing from their new album. The fast melodic stuff is def a trademark of Brian, and Warborn, I don't think you should hold so close to your heart the vindictive press release regarding Brians departure. If Brian was that shitty, I promise you he wouldnt have stayed in BDM until HE quit. Granted, I'm pretty bias towards BDM because they seem like good guys but I'm not going to let some bullshit cat fight dampin my taste in music. Quit with the drama.
