…That's Dr. Bruce Dickinson To You, Chap!

dickinsondoctor

Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson is like the real life James Bond of metal. By night, he is the singer of one of the biggest heavy metal bands of all time, by day, he's an airplane pilot, champion fencer, actor, and now, you can call him Doctor. Dickinson received an honorary doctorate in music from London's Queen Mary university. It was the same school he attended as a young lad before joining Maiden. His parents wanted him in the army, but he was all like "Maaaa, I wanna go to college first," then he joined a bunch of bands and eventually Maiden found him, and the rest, as they say…is rock and roll history. 1. does anyone even like iron maiden besides their shirts? the music, its so cheesy. hes a smart dude though, safe to say hes got a backup career or 2 when the band hangs it up

  2. It's not a big deal, but I noticed there are a few misleading comments here. Dickinson didn't "start" Maiden, Steve Harris did. Bruce joined Iron Maiden on Number Of The Beast, 7 years after the band had started. Also, Bruce never "found" Maiden, he was in a marginally popular band called Samson for 3 years after graduating QMU. Iron Maiden had an interest in Samson, and went to peek in on Dickinson's vocal sessions since things weren't going good with Paul Di'anno. They eventually asked Bruce to audition for IM. The original audition tapes can be found on the internet if anyone is interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPCiP4ar27k
