Full OZZFEST 2008 Details: One day event in Dallas, headlined by Ozzy and Metallica

There has been a lot of speculation about what’s happening with this year’s OZZFEST , but all of that was put to rest when the official announcement was made today. OZZFEST 2008 will be a one-day event on Saturday, August 9 at Pizza Hut Park in Dallas, Texas. There will be three stages and the lineup is as follows:

Looks like a pretty stacked lineup, for sure. Obviously, with it being Dallas, and Vinnie Paul being there, they almost have to do a Dimebag tribute, and it should be interesting to see with all those notable artists there. Would you guys go?

CATTLE DECAPITATION set to premiere new material at upcoming shows

CATTLE DECAPITATION front man Travis Ryan recently posted an update on the band’s status:

“The guys have been writing like crazy, we’re already 4 songs in! I’ve got lyrics to a couple and we’ll be playing ‘em at the upcoming shows! All I can say is this new stuff is completely insane. We have reached a new level of intensity that in my opinion completely annihilates anything we’ve ever done. That goes for the first 2 Cattle records as well! Just too damn intense for words… you gotta come check it out for yourself!”

The album is expected later this year via Metal Blade. The band will be playing new tracks at the following shows:

More dates have been posted for CAVALERA CONSPIRACY’s upcoming headlining run with DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, THROWDOWN, BURY YOUR DEAD and INCITE. Max Cavalera has been quoted as saying this will most likely be the only U.S. tour the band does in support of this record, so make sure to check it out. The final itinerary is as follows:

OZZFEST happening in Dallas as speculated, METALLICA announced as co-headliners

Looks like we jumped the gun when we said that there wouldn’t be another Ozzfest . Blabbermouth is reporting that the 2-day festival is scheduled to take place at two seperate stops, with the Dallas stop shaping up to happen on August 9th and 10th, with OZZY set to headline the first night, and METALLICA to close out the second. RIGER MORTIS has posted on their Myspace that they would be playing the Saturday show of that weekend. Things are getting interesting…

NECROPHAGIST update: New drummer, side project and tour

NECROPHAGIST have posted the following update:

“Romain Goulon joins NECROPHAGIST as the official new drummer. The band and Romain look forward to working together on the new album. Meanwhile, check out a video of Romain playing to guitar tracks from the album ‘Epitaph’ at NECROPHAGIST ’s official YouTube channel .

The band wants to thank ‘human metronome’ Marco Minnemann for playing drums on last year’s Summer Slaughter tour. It was an honor and a lot of fun playing with one of the world’s greatest drummers.

However, Marco Minnemann and Muhammed Suicmez decided to launch a whole new band. Commented Muhammed : “I am very excited about this, because jamming with Marco inspires me to come up with great ideas and I have a lot of respect for Marco as a composer. So forging a whole new style by mixing mine and his is something I can’t wait to do, because not only is Marco one of the best drummers in the world, he is a great guitarist also.”

Stay tuned for news updates about the writing process for NECROPHAGIST ’s new album as well as Marco and Muhammed ’s new band.

Also, it was just announced that NECROPHAGIST will headline the Canadian leg of the SUMMER SLAUGHTER TOUR heading out with DYING FETUS , BENEATH THE MASSACRE , INTO ETERNITY , NEURAXIS , WHITECHAPEL , VEIL OF MAYA , DIVINITY , and COMMON GRAVE . The tour will start in Quebec and is expected to go throughout the country from East to West ending in Vancouver tentatively on the 27th of August.

The rumors have been boiling over for months that there would be a one-off Ozzfest announced very soon. Well, those rumors are true, sorta. Rather than flush the Ozzfest name further down the toilet, we are being “treated” to Ozzy Osborune’s “Monsters of Rock” festival, which will take place on Saturday, July 26th at McMahon Stadium in Calgary, AB featuring this rather stacked lineup:
