REVOCATION's new album Existance is Futile(review here) is one album I simply cannot get out of rotation on my MP3 player. It's just so fucking good. I love the way they integrate hardcore cliches with death metal shredding to make something new and original. This band must be heard! So, with permission from Relapse we are posting a free MP3 download of one of my favorite tracks on the album, "Dismantle The Dictator." If you are not headbanging like mad by the chant-a-long, I don't know what to tell you.
Wrestling is so awful now, its unbearable. I know, I know… some of you are saying "Rob, when was it ever bearable?" Well, it was to me. I was quite the die-hard, but lately it features some of the worst writing and booking imaginable, even by wrestling's low standards. Anyway, I tuned into to RAW last night, with DVR remote in hand to watch Ozzy Osbourne be the guest host, looking for something to bring to you fine Metal Injection junkies this morning. And, the above clip, is honestly, the only part that made me move the muscles in my face to what could be considered a mild smile, perhaps even a chuckle. To set it up, instead of having, you know, actual wrestling matches, the WWE decided to do an impromptu "Raw's Got Talent," a takeoff of Sharon Osbourne's waste of a show, America's Got Talent. And, before you watch the clip, I just want to say: No Homo!
One of our favorite up-and-comers on the metal scene is the incredibly brutal band known as THE_NETWORK. If you like your metal noisy, you will dig this band. We have posted two new live clips here and here for your viewing pleasures.
Yes! Yes! Yes! The metal gods known to mere mortals as SLAYER (more commonly referenced as SLLLLLAAAYYYYYYEEERR) have teamed up with the social networking behemoth Myspace to stream their stellar new release, World Painted Blood before it's official release this Tuesday. Why are you still reading this? Click this link and get whiplash from headbanging so hard. Seriously, this album rips.
REPULSION played the Brooklyn Masonic Temple on July 31st, 2009 performing their entire seminal CD, Horrified. Here are some live videos from that performance:
A few nights ago while watching the Colbert Report, I saw the above segment which Stephen discusses a new website, Hollywood Is Calling where "celebrities" who are strapped for cash charge you to create a video message. More to the point, charge 300 dollars to read your resume. Who is one of these celebrities? Former MEGADETH bassist Dave Ellefson! The clip even features Dave reading somebody's resume.
Dave, buddy, what the hell are you doing? Have you no shame? Clearly, you do not seeing as though you are a part of this, but there has to be an easier way for you to make some cash.
SUFFOCATION's old label, Relapse Records just released the first live album of one of death metal's finest acts. The album is currently streaming in it's entirety and since we think it fucking rules, we arranged a free MP3 download of the first track on the disc, "Infecting the Crypts".
Also, the fine folks at Relapse are giving us a free copy of the CD to give away to you junkies. To be entered into the contest, simply leave a comment with the name of their first studio release ever. We will randomly pick one of the entrants to get the copy of the CD.
I was lucky enough to snag a ticket to NINE INCH NAILS' final NYC performace at Terminal 5, and while it was an absolutely killer time, a small part of me wished I got tickets to their show at the more intimate Webster Hall a few days prior. The reason? They played their seminal album The Downward Spiral from beginning to end. How great that must have been. One NIN fanatic searched far and wide and found 11 different people at the show who bootleged it (in HD nonetheless!), they edited it and now, presumably with Trent's blessing, the entire show is online and downloadable for FREE. You can stream it above, download a torrent, iPod version or just a DVD burn. Click here to download it. Long live the intranets!
Metal Nick was in attendance at the Ottobar this past Friday and witnessed EYEHATEGOD, GOATWHORE & SWARM OF THE LOTUS perform live. Being the kind gentleman that he is, he taped a few bootlegs and uploaded them onto this site for your viewing pleasure. Check 'em out:
Metal Nick is on a roll. Earlier this week, he posted some REVOCATION clips and today four fresh new DESPISED ICON bootlegs for your viewing and listening pleasure. Check 'em out:
MUDVAYNE is streaming a new track titled "Beautiful and Strange" on their MySpace page. The track comes off the band’s self-titled album, which comes out December 22
Our good buddy, and bootlegger extraordinaire, Metal Nick has posted four live clips of one of my favorite up-and-coming bands in the scene today, REVOCATION (read our review or listen to the whole thing for yourself) from a show they played a few days ago in Springfield, VA. Here are the clips:
So it's Friday afternoon, and if you're visiting this site that means you're either at work with time to kill, or and home with time to kill. Well, we have a great time killer for you. VBS.tv recently posted a new one-hourish episode of its Music World series dedicated strictly to the current metal scene. The episode is hosted by a dude who has definitely been in the scene, Iano Dovi, a dude who crashed our All That Remains interview once and has tour managed a bunch of bands. So, you were in good hands from the start.
Iano goes on a road trip to London to discuss the origins of heavy metal and also visits the Terrorizer magazine offices and hangs out with TRIGGER THE BLOODSHED and MUTANT, two up and coming British thrash bands. Then, in part 2, the strongest of all the clips in my opinion, Iano spends some time in Sweeden discussing the Gothenburg scene with members of DARK TRANQULITY, IN FLAMES and AT THE GATES. There is some incredibly insightful and epic stuff in this clip. Then, Iano moves to California, chillin' at the Metal Blade offices and hanging out with our bros in SUICIDE SILENCE and the finally in the last clip, spends a day at Mayhem Fest interviewing Tom Araya (who admits ON CAMERA to liking Barry Manilow!!!), Black Dahlia Murder, Killswitch Engage and more.
The whole thing is a good viewing, but if you're pressed for time, seeing as it may seem a little slow at points, I'd recommend just watching the Sweeden part. I have embedded all four parts to the episode after the jump…
Part 1 of 4 – London
Part 2, 3 and 4 after the jump (Part 2 is a must watch)… (more…)
Awesome! Our bronuts at MetalSucks are currently streaming a new track from THE DEVIN TOWNSEAD PROJECT called "Universe In A Ball." If you are a fan of Devin's previous work, you will most certainly enjoy this. Wakka wakka wakka!
Oh hell yes! I've been listening to the new CD from THE RED CHORD, Fed Through the Teeth Machine almost non-stop since I got the watermarked advance last week. Whereas a lot of bands start incorporating clean vocals and slow down, it seems like these guys are getting faster. It's that same Red Chord sound but at the same time there is a progression to more heaviness. I think I already like it better than their last album!
Anyway, seeing as though I can't stop listening to this CD, I wanted to get you guys in on the fun as well. So we arranged a stream of one of my favorite tracks from the CD, "One Robot To Another". Stream that sucka below. If you haven't heard the lead-off track, Demoralizer yet, head to the band's MySpace page to stream it. Fed Through The Teeth Machine comes out October 27th.
*General Who is better Cannibal Corpse or Bloodbath. A Lot of people think Bloodbath and I think they are idiots. Bloodbath rules don't get me wrong,...
