SUMAC (Ex-ISIS, BAPTISTS) Gets Low And Slow On "A Thorn In The Lion's Paw"

This is sludge music for people who think Sunn O))) is too fast.

This is sludge music for people who think Sunn O))) is too fast.

Sumac, the group consisting of ex-Isis vocalist and guitarist Aaron Turner, Baptists drummer Nick Yacyshyn and Russian Circles bassist Brian Cook (who isn't an official member of the group but will be playing on the record because he's probably reuniting with Botch), has finally given us a taste of their debut record The Deal due out February 3!

I'd say it's exactly what you expect, but it only kind of is… take whatever you were expecting and then slow it down about 50 beats per minute. That's what you're getting with Sumac. Ready to get uncomfortably sludgy and noisy? Of course you are.
