CHELSEA WOLFE Evokes Mid-2000s ULVER On A Downtempo New Track

Seriously. It's the female-fronted track you never knew you needed.

Seriously. It's the female-fronted track you never knew you needed.

I was pretty sold on Chelsea Wolfe's new album Abyss when I first heard the handful of singles that have dropped. Now, as we draw closer and closer to the Abyss that approaches on August 7, Wolfe has given up the absolute masterpiece of the album. Get ready for "After the Fall."

The track is everything I unequivocally love about 2000s Ulver– distorted keyboards, swelling noises and a lot of atmosphere. Of course, it's clearly Chelsea Wolfe's brand of depressing gloom that we're being treated to, but somewhere out there Kristoffer Rygg is listening and smiling.

Reviews

"With She Reaches Out To She Reaches Out To She, Wolfe continues her reign as perhaps the most disquietly serene singer/songwriter around."

Like an industrial version of trip hop.
