Which Country Has The Most Metal Bands Per Capita?

zRDq4

Here is a pretty sweet infographic (full-size here) which compiles all the info on Metal Archives into a fancy little heat map chart to find which countries have the most metal bands per-capita. Is it any shock that Sweden, Norway and Finland easily win this one? Portugal, Greece and Chile all fare pretty well themselves. Any way you look at it, this chart proves that heavy metal, the genre we love so much, is truly a universal language. [via Shreddit]

These are the times I'm glad to say my ancestry is Swedish… too bad America's idea of good music is flushing diarreah. We should look towards these countries who are doing it right.

This heat map is useless its done off population Norway has 5million people and UK has 61million and they are similar sized countries if you divide the amount per 100,000 in Norway by 12 which is how many times 5million goes into 60 you will find their are similar amount of metal bands in the UK and Norway just saying low population metal producing countries would all ways light up red if your going to judge per capita I reckon taking this into account you could say all metal producing countries seem to work out to a pretty much even amount of bands for each country. This shows that metal is a universal genre of music in the western developed nations I for one think this is a great thing metal has a similar following in all the countries it started in.

    • ReAnimator

It is what it says it is, amount of metal bands per 100,000 people. I don't understand how or why the size of the country matters? Low population countries would always light up? Err, no. Only if there's a lot of metal bands in said country. What the hell are you trying to say? And for fucks sake, learn to use sentences. They start with a capital letter and end in a .

      Suomi Finland Perkele \,,/

Per capita means "by the head", or in other words, the highest number of metal bands per person. Area has nothing to do with that.. And I agree, it helps the communication ever so slightly if you break it into sentences.
