FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH Drummer Explains Why You Haven't Heard The New Album Yet

Things are going well for 5FDP.

Things are going well for 5FDP.

Five Finger Death Punch couldn't generate a positive headline right now if it tried, huh? From the Ivan Moody situation to guitarist Jason Hook calling Moody "cancerous," things aren't great, though they weren't great before this either. On the plus side, the band currently has Bad Wolves vocalist Tommy Vext filling in on its European tour in place of Moody, so there's a bit of a bright side if you're looking for one.

If you'll recall, Five Finger Death Punch is currently in the middle of a lawsuit with its record label Prospect Park despite the band having done a new album with them. Hook says the album has been done since New Years Eve 2016, though it doesn't really matter.

“It really doesn’t affect us at all. I mean we’re touring now, making a lot of money. And there’s no… But the thing is, we’re never going to stop working. We’re workaholics and we have our fanbase. And if that record has to sit with him for five years, it won’t matter. We have a new label and we have a new deal and we’ll continue to make records with that label and he can release that when he feels like it.”

Drummer Jeremy Spencer adds that he's not really sure why there's a lawsuit, though he's confident they'll win… which doesn't make a ton of sense.

“We have a new record. It’s been done for several months. And we’re tied up in a lawsuit with our label. So we can’t release it because we’re being sued for some reason which I don’t even really understand why. He’s [Jeff Kwatinetz] trying to jam us up so we can’t leave the label. But he’s going to lose and once we get that sorted out the record will come out.”

I wonder what else is going to happen to 5FDP at this point? They seem to be drama magnets.
