Satanic Temple Allowed Equal Representation in Florida Capitol Holiday Display

Satanism is really having a moment in America right now. A group calling themselves the Satanic Temple, just scored a huge victory for free speech. According to Slate.com:

The Florida government officially permits religious displays during the holiday season; in 2013, it allowed Christians, Jews, secular humanists, atheists, and Pastafarians to construct testaments to their faith. But Florida forbade the Satanic Temple from placing its own display in the Capitol, labeling it “grossly offensive.” So this year, the temple reapplied, with some additional legal backing: Americans United for the Separation of Church and State threatened to sue Florida for violating the temple’s free speech rights if the state refused to permits its display.

Turns out, the Satanists had a solid case and they won. They will be allowed to erect their display of an angel falling into a pit of hell fire in the rotund for all to see in the Florida Capitol. The religious displays will be hosted from December 22nd through the 29th. Of course, if Florida just forbade any religious displays in the Capitol building, they could've avoided this whole mess, but obviously this way is much more fun.

According to io9, The Satanic Temple "embrace common sense and justice" and advocate for same-sex marriage, reproductive health rights and other progressive causes.

The Satanic Temple is the same organization responsible for trying to erect a statue of Baphomet in the Oklahoma State Capitol in response to a Christian statue being erected but it was put on hold after the Christian statue was destroyed.
