Marilyn Manson has always been a lightning rod for controversy. He still is. Just earlier this week, he came out with a prop assault rifle, which doubled as a mic holder and explained it was a political statement about how desensitized to guns we are. Manson has been in the headlines the last few months for breaking his leg, feuding with a pop star, oh and releasing a pretty good new album, with a cool new music video featuring his best friend Johnny Depp.
But, back in the late 90s, one of the first and most absurd rumors about Manson was that he got a rib surgically removed to suck his own dick. Somehow, before being "viral" on the internet was a thing, this rumor spread like word-of-mouth wildfire and has persisted for quite a while. Alternative Nation reports that in the new issue of Q Magazine in a fan question and answer session, the editors slyly included this gem from a fan named Keith Rathbone said, "For years, it was rumored that you'd had a rib removed to achieve self-fellatio. Obviously, that's nonsense, but have you ever tried to suck your own cock?"
Manson, realizing that he's on the spot and the type of publicity this would generate for the magazine responded "Wow! Does Keith get money if I answer this?" he asked. "No comment. Keith, you cunt!"
Lad Bible seems to think it tracked down how the rumor started, based on an arrest during a show in Florida in December of 1994, where police where under the impression that Manson performed oral sex on a man, which was a violation of the "adult entertainment code." However, it was actually Manson simulating oral sex onto Jack Off Jill vocalist, Jessicka, who was wearing a prosthetic penis.
Manson briefly acknowledged the rumor in his autobiography, The Long Hard Road Out Of Hell, writing:
"If I really got my ribs removed, I would have been busy sucking my own dick on The Wonder Years instead of chasing Winnie Cooper. Plus, who really has time to be killing puppies when you can be sucking your own dick? I think I'm gonna call the surgeon in the morning."
Manson was of course joking about another longstanding rumor, that he was on The Wonder Years. Oh that Marilyn!
