Jason Newsted Says METALLICA's New Album Sees The Band Come "Back Into Stride"

"This last [album], I feel they've kinda come back into stride and there's something of substance here."

Jason Newsted doesn't really seem like he's still pissed at Metallica over his time with them. In fact, dude even hinted at maybe doing something with them at some point, which works out considering he's not publicly stated that he digs Hardwired To Self Destruct.

In an interview with Ultimate Guitar, Newsted says he feels like the band has "come back into stride," and praises bassist Robert Trujillo's job with the band on the new album.

"[The album] is a bit different than the other efforts that led up to it. Robert's a great fuckin' bass player and he's always been a great bass player. I've known him for 25 years at least. He's always been good and I owned all the Infectious [Grooves] records and I wore Infectious t-shirts. I'm down. That guy has always got my respect. He got in there and he can hang with those guys and make it sound like it does? Peace, peace, power to you … This last [album], I feel they've kinda come back into stride and there's something of substance here."

He's right – the new Metallica album does kick ass. Though I think we're all still genuinely curious what he's got up his sleeve, as far as a potential collaboration with the band again?
