FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH Sued By Their Label – Claiming Music Sucks, Frontman Wasted

The label claims the band is rushing a new album before "Ivan does something stupid — dies — goes away to jail."

The label claims the band is rushing a new album before "Ivan does something stupid -- dies -- goes away to jail."

Something is going on in the Five Finger Death Punch camp, and their label, Prospect Park, isn't having any of it. In the last few years, FFDP's frontman Ivan Moody has been making a lot of headlines, and none of them are for music.

Last May, Moody had an onstage meltdown, causing other members of the group to walk off, which he later blamed on being "shitfaced." Then, his wife filed for divorce claiming domestic violence and it was revealed shortly after that Moody's own sister has a restaining order against him, although at the time band management denied all allegations. Perhaps the final straw was a few weeks ago, when the band had to cancel an Australian tour after Moody was hospitalized for undiscolsed conditions. Now, the band's label has had enough.

TMZ reports Prospect Park is suing the band claiming they are "shamelessly attempting to cash in before the anticipated downfall of their addicted bandmate." The label claims in the lawsuit that other members of the band have admitted to them that FFDP is rushing out new music before "Ivan does something stupid — dies — goes away to jail." TMZ also reports Prospect Park claims the band's sound is getting stale and needs more creative input. We're pretty sure that's just a nice way of saying their music sucks, right?
Either way, the band is apparently not allowed to begin recording until at least June 4, according to their contract.

Update: Five Finger Death Punch have since replied to the lawsuit, read their statement here.

TMZ did get comment from the band who claim the label is just using this Five Finger Death Punch issue as leverage to sell off the label. That doesn't quite make sense to me. If the band is an asset, wouldn't the label want to make it seem as though the band has value and is not on the way down? Either way, it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

All joking aside, I sincerely hope Moody gets treatment for whatever issues he may have, if not for himself, for his daughter.
