SLIPKNOT Part Ways with Drummer Joey Jordison

Was he fired? Did he quit? It's uncertain at this point, but what we know is Joey Jordison is no longer in Slipknot. Here's what we know.

Slipknot have just posted the following comment on their official site:

To our Maggots and fans around the world,

It is with great pain but quiet respect, that for personal reasons Joey Jordison and Slipknot are parting ways. We all wish Joey the best in whatever his future holds. We understand that many of you will want to know how and why this has come to be, and we will do our best to respond to these questions in the near future. It is our love for all of you, as well as for the music we create, that spurs us to continue on and move forward with our plans for releasing new material in the next year. We hope that all of you will come to understand this, and we appreciate your continued support while we plan the next phase of the future of Slipknot.

Thank you,
The ‘Knot

This is quite shocking to say the least, especially with the news recently that guitarist Jim Root was sitting out the Stone Sour tour to focusing on writing new Slipknot material.

Other than M. Shaun Crahan, Jordison is the longest running member of the band, which was formed by Crahan and deceased bassist, Paul Gray. Jordison always seemed to have a huge passion for the band, and began working on demos for the new album for quite a while now.

Jordison went on to form Scar The Martyr earlier this year, and when I interviewed him earlier this year, he mentioned the project was born out of being in the studio writing Slipknot demos, and then eventually just experimenting in the studio, with those experiments eventually leading to the formation of his new band.

There are so many ways to speculate about what actually went down, but ultimately, Jordison and Slipknot have parted ways.

Which begs the question, who could possibly replace Joey? Here is our list of 10 possible options.

A day after posting this, Corey Taylor gave his first interview discussing the split and talking about the pgoress the band has made so far on their new album. Read excerpts and hear the whole interview right here.
