AEROSMITH's Joe Perry Rushed To Hospital After Collapsing Backstage At Billy Joel Concert

Last night, legendary Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry surprised fans attending Billy Joel's concert last night at Madison Square Garden.

Perry got up on stage to perform the Aerosmith classic "Walk This Way" with Joel and his band. TMZ reported that Perry collapsed backstage after the performance. Paramedics were working on Perry for 40 minutes reportedly “placing a tracheal tube down his throat to clear the air path.”

Perry's publicist just sent out this official statement:

Following a guest performance during Billy Joel's show last night at Madison Square Garden, Joe Perry experienced shortness of breath and was treated backstage by paramedics who gave the guitarist oxygen and used a tracheal tube to clear his airway before taking him to a hospital. This morning Perry remains in the hospital where he is alert and responsive. The Aerosmith guitarist will be unable to appear today at Rock And Roll Fantasy Camp in Florida and apologizes to those attending. Perry is expected to return to the road later this month.

Perry previously lost consciousness backstage at a 2016 Coney Island show for his band Hollywood Vampires (his side project with Alice Cooper and Johnny Depp). Perry was transported to the hospital in stable condition, blaming “dehydration and exhaustion.”

Perry is due to hit the road for a set of solo dates later this month and is scheduled to take part in an Aerosmith residency in Las Vegas next year.
