TOOL's Danny Carey and MASTODON's Brent Hinds New Project, LEGEND OF THE SEAGULLMEN, Releases Fun New Track

Because why not?

Because why not?

Yesterday I posted about members of Metallica and Torche teaming up for a new side project. As I was writing about the group's existence, I kept thinking how weird of a combination it was and how Torche's drummer Rick Smith even knew Metallica's bassist Rob Trujillo (if it all). Now I've got a even weirder one for you! Tool drummer Danny Carey and Mastodon guitarist Brent Hinds have teamed up with Off!'s Dimitri Coats to make up Legend of the Seagullmen.

Weird, right? Unfortunately there were tracks up for download on the group's website, but the whole thing seems to be currently offline or busted. Thankfully, somebody was kind enough to upload it to Youtube before it was taken down:

No word on when any further developments regarding the project will arise. Speaking of developments, Hinds has a lot of buns in the oven! He's also currently collaborating with Ben Weinamn of The Dillinger Escape Plan on a project called Giraffe Tongue Orchestra, among his full-time band Mastodon.

Meanwhile, Carey is still, still working on that Tool record.

The songs have a bit of a Primus vibe to me initially, while eventually trailing off into its own sound.
