I have to be honest. I haven't picked up Guitar Hero or Rock Band in months. The only time I even think of dusting off the plastic instruments is when I have a group of people over and somebody in a drunken stupor thinks its a good idea and eggs everybody else on to play. With that said, I am very excited for the upcoming Guitar Hero: Metallica game, because it's basically a full game of songs that I want to play. With each current Guitar Hero or Rock Band there are maybe a handful of songs that I go back to. Not so much with this one. Check out this killer lineup:

– All Nightmare Long
– Battery
– Creeping Death

THIN LIZZY – The Boys Are Back in Town

Holy fucking shit, does that make me salivate. Also, if you happened to have purchased Death Magnetic in the Guitar Hero store, all those tracks will be playable in this game as well. Also, Chris Steffen over at RollingStone.com got a sneak preview of the game and reports that none of the past members of Metallica are in the game, only the current lineup is playable. The storyline of the game starts with the players as Metallica’s opening act, and eventually play as Metallica once they prove their mettle. All the artwork in the game is inspired by long-time Metallica artist Pushead. The game comes out on March 29th.

The thing I realized with these games (starting with Guitar Hero 3 and Rock Band) was I would only really play them hardcore for about 2 or 3 weeks and then I'd be over it, rarely picking them up again. That's why I suggest getting a GameFly subscription for that month just to play the game. I know I will!
