It's no secret that America experiencing a serious opioid crisis. In 2015 alone, 2.1 million people misused opioid medication for the first time and 828,000 people tried heroin for the first time. The numbers are only getting worse, and Uncured addresses the issue in its new music video for "Opium Den."
The video for "Opium Den" is an exposé of opioid abuse, and its content is explicit. Most of the songs on our new album "Medusa" examine themes of choice and consequence. "Opium Den" pushes the boundaries of this theme by exploring the opioid epidemic gripping the world today. While individuals have the freedom to make choices, one's perception of reality cannot be trusted if it is influenced by drugs. As most opioid abuse begins through prescription drugs, the disease of addiction can grip its victims before they even realize it.
