Self-empowerment is a theme across a lot of the Throwdown lyrics. "Tombs" is sort of a sarcastic tribute to those adversities that the band has overcome time and again and that have made them stronger people. The track comes off their last record "Deathless".

Vocalist Dave Peters has struggled with insomnia since he was young. "The Blinding Light" is about just that, "You spend a lot of time over-analyzing when you're awake at 4am night after night and don't have the same encounters everyone else does when you're asleep during daylight hours" says Peters.
