Bullet For My Valentine – Gravity THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA, SHYLMAGOGHNAR, and More Out Today – 6/29

Genre: Hard rock
Origin: Bridgend, Wales
Label: Search And Destroy/Spinefarm

Bullet For My Valentine have never been the heaviest or most extreme band with distorted guitars, but it feels like they're veering away from what one might call metal more than ever on this album. It's got an occasional scream, but it's very radio rock like 3 Days Grace, or Shinedown, or something. I saw them once and was impressed by their guitar work, not sure where that went on this album.

Bruce Dickinson – Scream For Me Sarajevo THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA, SHYLMAGOGHNAR, and More Out Today – 6/29

Genre: Heavy metal
Origin: Worksop, England
Label: Eagle Vision/BMG

In 1994 Bruce Dickinson traveled to war torn Sarajevo and played a show for the people. This is the music from and the documentary about that show. Seems like a pretty interesting doc actually, but if that doesn't do it for you, there are plenty of Bruce solo tracks for you to enjoy.

Fates Warning – Live Over Europe THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA, SHYLMAGOGHNAR, and More Out Today – 6/29

Genre: Progressive
Origin: Hartford, Connecticut
Label: InsideOut

For as into prog as I am, I've never really given Fates Warning a real shot. Maybe this is when I give them a go. This features twenty-three songs recorded in a bunch of cities, and clocks in at well over two hours. So it seems like a pretty good sample of the band.

Glass Lungs – Impermanence THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA, SHYLMAGOGHNAR, and More Out Today – 6/29

Genre: Post-rock
Origin: Brooklyn, New York
Label: Self-Released

This band is really cool. They combine the "post" variety of both rock and hardcore into one lush, sweeping sound. Atmosphere and melody drive this, but below the surface there are plenty of progressive rhythms and technical bursts.

Guns N' Roses – Appetite For Destruction: Locked N' Loaded Edition THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA, SHYLMAGOGHNAR, and More Out Today – 6/29

Genre: Hard rock
Origin: Los Angeles, California
Label: Geffen/UMe

I've said many times that I don't bother highlighting re-releases, because there's usually so much new material, why bother on something you probably already? The thousand dollar MASSIVE version of this does feel like a cash grab, but the scaled back version with two CDs seems pretty neat. Disc two has the track below and some other never before and rarely released things.

The Night Flight Orchestra – Sometimes The World Ain't Enough THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA, SHYLMAGOGHNAR, and More Out Today – 6/29

Genre: Heavy metal
Origin: Helsingborg, Sweden
Label: Nuclear Blast

I will never not be happy that this band exists. A bunch of melodic death metal guys (from Soilwork, Arch Enemy, etc) getting together to make 70's-inspired dad rock is so good. The best part is that it could be done as a one-off bit release, but it's really fucking good.

Shylmagoghnar – TransienceTHE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA, SHYLMAGOGHNAR, and More Out Today – 6/29

Genre: Atmospheric metal
Origin: South Limburg, Netherlands
Label: Napalm

This is some epic shit. This sounds the soundtrack to Lord of the Rings run through a atmospheric black metal prism, or some weird progressive death metal device. Wouldn't it be fun if that's how music was made? Anyway, this is easily the most interesting thing of the week, and such a solid way to wrap this edition.
