I feel so conflicted about this release. For those not caught up, Art of Anarchy is the supergroup that Scott Weiland was working with before his death. It features Bumblefoot (Solo shredder/ex-Guns N Roses), John Moyer (Disturbed), then the Votta brothers Jon and Vince. Most recently, the band took in former Creed vocalist Scott Stapp. Having Stapp affiliated to a project is enough to turn some away, but I'd say give this a go for Bumblefoot alone. It does have an early Creed vibe though.

I frankly don't know what's going on with this release. The band, at times, plays fun indie or alternative jams, but the vocals are that of a hardcore band. Really, really interesting stuff. This EP makes me want to explore the rest of their catalog, so perhaps this is a good jumping off point. Readers, tell me where to start with this band. I'm interested.

Nergal of Behemoth is expanding his catalog in an interesting way. He is taking on a sort of Johnny Cash vibe on Me And That Man, you know just with more nods to Satan than the Man in Black might make. I'm not big on twangy music, but most of this is pretty cool.

Memoriam was formed as a tribute to Bolt Thrower's late drummer Martin Kearns, and this band sure has a lot of Bolt Thrower-era death metal vibe to it. Also includes other former Bolt Thrower members, and guys from Benediction. So there's lots of death metal to be had here.

Everyone's favorite doom darlings have returned with another collection of super catchy melodies over low-tunes doomy goodness. This feels like their most accessible release yet, but the things that made metal guys stick around with the Pitchfork crowd fell for them are still there. A truly great band still.

Tarzandragon are a young band I had the opportunity to enjoy at a music festival a few years ago and I hadn't heard anything like them before. They have an Incubus or Deftones meets Tera Melos after taking mushrooms vibe to them. This EP should appear to prog-fiends like myself and fans of the other aforementioned bands in this blurb. Also, with a band like "Tarzandragon," you know you're in for something awesome.
