People go apeshit for this band. I don't get it, but then again the extent of my metalcore was KSE, Shadows Fall, and that era. Anyway, typical ADTR record, I think. Heaviness, melody, and the back and forth between the two. Soooooo enjoy?

Rob Crow (Pinback) said he was done with music. Since then he released a new solo album, and finally dropped the another Goblin Cock album. Riffs are low and smokey, while vocals are not. The juxtaposition of math rock genius and stoner rock has always been an interesting one, and for the third time, it was a successful one. This is a favorite of mine for the year, so I'm glad he wasn't as done as he thought he'd be.

The Pacific Northwest is no stranger to sludgy wonderfulness, and this trio are one of the front-runners of the current scene. Their fourth album has the band branching out more than they have before, which is impressive considering just how much they already grew with their previous three records.

This was not a band I was aware of prior to this entry. I dig what they're doing though. This record is soaring, melodic prog with technicality and classical influences throughout. Triumphia is odd title that I hope to be telling people about the more I check out their stuff.
