THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From BORIS, INTEGRITY, and More Out Today 7/14

This edition includes weirdness, spookiness, lots and lots or feedback, and more! To the metals…

Bloody Hammers – The Horrific Case Of Bloody Hammers EP THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From BORIS, INTEGRITY, and More Out Today 7/14

Genre: Doom/hard rock
Origin: Charlotte, North Carolina
Label: Self

Buy now on Amazon.com

Just under a year after their album Lovely Sort of Death, Bloody Hammers have returned with a half-dozen new spooky jams to haunt your summer. If you dug the last record and/or enjoy the whole theatrical horror influenced rock scene (aka Ghost and the likes), then it's time to get your record player in working order.

Boris – Dear THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From BORIS, INTEGRITY, and More Out Today 7/14

Genre: Sludge/drone/doom
Origin: Tokyo, Japan
Label: Sargent House

On their millionth record, Boris are bringing the fuzz and feedback in ways they haven't on a Sargent House record since perhaps Heavy Rocks II. Albums like Attention Please or even Noise just weren't this heavy. Also in typical Boris fashion, there is a self-referential song calling back to their first full album Absolutego, which will confuse me and my iTunes like so many of their releases.

Ewigkeit – Cosmic ManTHE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From BORIS, INTEGRITY, and More Out Today 7/14

Genre: Experimental/Black metal
Origin: Brighton, England
Label: Svart

On his first album in four years Ewigkeit mastermind Mr. Fog has returned bringing the weirdness. This album is hand down my pick for the week as it continues to push the boundaries and try different stuff. This album includes black metal throughout with symphonic moments, epic folk metal moments, classic Deep Purple-esque organ, some almost 8-bit instrumentation, and a lot more.

Execration – Return To The Void THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From BORIS, INTEGRITY, and More Out Today 7/14

Genre: Death metal
Origin: Oslo, Norway
Label: Metal Blade

Buy now on Amazon.com

For those looking for some more traditional heavy metal stuff, this is the point in the post where you can start paying attention. This band's fourth album continues their worship of classic death metal, thrash, and black metal. This record sounds like the underground metal scene of the early 90's tossed into a blender. You'll probably love it.

Expulsion – Nightmare Future THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From BORIS, INTEGRITY, and More Out Today 7/14

Genre: Death metal/grindcore
Origin: Los Angeles, California
Label: Relapse

Buy now on Amazon.com

Much like our previous band, this band is heaviness with zero bullshit. From the moment that distorted bass hits on the jaunty tune "Total Human Genocide," you know you're in for a record of grinding madness and unrelenting abuse. That's what you get.

Integrity – Howling, For The Nightmare Shall Consume THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From BORIS, INTEGRITY, and More Out Today 7/14

Genre: Hardcore/various
Origin: Cleveland, Ohio
Label: Relapse

Buy now on Amazon.com

To just label this a hardcore record would not really give it the justice it deserves. Unfortunately, that's just the easiest way to go as this thing is another record of low tuned chugging assaults from a group of low tuned chuggers. However, there is so much going on with this album. Parts sound like Neurosis, parts sound like Cro-Mags, parts sound Immortal. It's a really all over the place album in the best way.
