Cave In Ft. Steve Brodsky & Adam McGrath – Live At Roadburn 2018 THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From CAVE IN, SARAH LONGFIELD, and More Out Today – 11/30

Genre: Progressive/metalcore/hardcore
Origin: Methuen, Massachusetts
Label: Roadburn

Following the death of their bassist Caleb Scofield, Steve and Adam of Cave In performed this set as a tribute to him. This features acoustic renditions of their chaotic classics, and these versions carry more weight than ever. This is a must have for Cave In fans.

Emigrate – A Million Miles THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From CAVE IN, SARAH LONGFIELD, and More Out Today – 11/30

Genre: Hard rock
Origin: Wittenberge, East Germany
Label: Spinefarm

When he's not marching around a stage while trying to avoid being lit on fire with Rammstein, guitarist Richard Z. Kruspe is fronting this straight forward rock outfit. The guitar and rhythm both still employ the sound you'd expect from him, but the band meanders into other territories. Still, if you're looking for some driving rock, look no further than this.

The Intersphere – The Grand Delusion THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From CAVE IN, SARAH LONGFIELD, and More Out Today – 11/30

Genre: Progressive alt rock
Origin: Mannheim, Germany
Label: Long Branch Records

Somewhere between the sounds of The Dear Hunter, Periphery, and Thrice you'll find The Intersphere. This, their first album in four years, has the technicality, dense arrangements, and melody once would want in a proggy opus. The Intersphere are an incredibly underrated band, and this album cements their status as one of the modern greats.

Sarah Longfield – Disparity THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From CAVE IN, SARAH LONGFIELD, and More Out Today – 11/30

Genre: "Shred Prog Melodic Tech Death Synth Core"
Origin: Wisconsin
Label: Season Of Mist

When she's not performing covers of Meshuggah and Slayer, or taking on her vile YouTube comments, Sarah Longfield is proving herself as one of modern metal's most interesting shredders. She plays all the notes, but her song writing separates her from the sea of YouTube/Bandcamp acts that has her scene rather saturated. Disparity is a beautiful journey and a favorite of mine for the year.

Master – Vindictive Miscreant THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From CAVE IN, SARAH LONGFIELD, and More Out Today – 11/30

Genre: Thrash/death metal
Origin: Chicago, Illinoi
Label: Transcending Obscurity

Here's some OG death metal for you. Master, who have been going on and off since 1983, are here to rip you apart with their fourteenth album. Paul Speckmann and his horde are still mad as heck and prove that old guys can still yell about Satan and stuff.

Nachtmystium – Resilient EP THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From CAVE IN, SARAH LONGFIELD, and More Out Today – 11/30

Genre: Experimental black metal
Origin: DeKalb, Illinois
Label: Lupus Lounge

Blake Judd had his ups and downs over the last few years, but seems to be doing well. Perhaps there is a nod to his own resilience in the title of this EP?, Anyway, this is four tracks of Nachtmystium doing what they do with sorta atmospheric, sorta psychedelic, yet mostly blackened metal. Also, this is the fourth thing they've released this year? How did that happen?
