Watch Maynard James Keenan Expertly Avoid Questions About New TOOL Music

Oh, he's good!

Oh, he's good!

We know Tool frontman Maynard James Kennan is not fond of talking about the band's long-anticipated next release, and yet, he booked an entire book tour to promote his new biography, and it only seemed natural that one of his moderators would make mention of Tool and possibly the new album.

During the Toronto stop of the tour, Maynard was interviewed by local radio station 102.1 The Edge music director Alan Cross, and a fan recorded a short video snippet of Tool talk, and Maynard does not seem very helpful:

Cross spent a good amount of time praising Tool and saying there aren't many bands like that today to which Maynard dryly responded "I guess you don't listen to much Puscifer." Going with the joke, Cross said that the upcoming Tool album will have a response most other artists aren't afforded with fans lining up at midnight at record stores to which Maynard quickly interjected "what record stores?" before mimmicking sitting at a desk on a laptop hitting a download button.

DO YOU THINK THIS IS A JOKE MAYNARD?!? WE WANT A DAMN TOOL ALBUM! Ok, to be fair, it was pretty funny.

For what it's worth, Tool has been playing songs for friends. Their buddies in Meshuggah think it's the best they've heard of Tool, the shortest song is twelve minutes long and the band are only satisfied with five songs out of the two albums worth of material they have written. I also had the chance to interview Maynard for my wrestling podcast, Squared Circle Pit.
