SOUNDGARDEN To Write A New Record This Year
Soundgarden got back together in 2010 for the first time since 1997 and dropped a pretty solid record called King Animal in 2012, or at least I dug it. It was a record that stood apart just enough from the old material to note the progression in the band's sound, but harkened back to the old jams enough to be identifiable to fans.
So what's next? According to guitarist Kim Thayil in an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, a new album in 2016!
"No studio has been chosen and no songs are written yet .When we finish these shows in Australia we'll spend a month or more working on it. It's definitely going to happen."
Killer! Though it sucks that we won't be hearing any new stuff anytime soon considering it doesn't exist. Thayil also seems pretty confident about who will produce the record.
"'We worked with producer Adam Kasper on our last album and I wouldn't be surprised if we hook up with him again,' says Thayil of the Seattle producer who also made Down on the Upside with the band in 1996."
2016- it's already looking decent.
