New ALICE IN CHAINS Album Is Coming
- Posted by RobInjection on January 11, 2012
When Alice In Chains released Black Gives Way To Blue three years ago, I was quite relieved. Relieved because the album still fucking crushed! It was a return to form, with the band reclaiming their throne as one of the kings of modern hard rock/metal. Which is why I'm excited to hear that Jerry Cantrell and company are working on a follow up.
In chatting with Rolling Stone, Cantrell revealed the band will hit the studio early this year. He also mentioned there are no plans for any guests on the album. You might recall Elton John contributed to the title track of the last album.
I can't wait. Hopefully, this will see the light of day by the end of the year!

I didn't know that Elton John was involved if the title track? How was he involved?
He contributed sound effects of his kid hitting the ground after he felt out of that 53rd-story window.
Too far?
At the risk of being a nitpicker, I don't know if I'd call Black Gives Way to Blue a "return to form," because unlike so many other bands, AIC never really put out a shit album that they needed to return from (in my opinion). It was really cool that they made an awesome album after the loss of a key member and many years away, but to me, a return to form kind of implies a necessity for redemption after a detour into the Lutallica Zone, and I don't think AIC ever needed that kind of redemption.
But I am an AIC fanboy.
