Good guy Metallica were recently named the official ambassadors of Record Store Day, which falls on April 16, 2016 this year. The bi-annual event focuses on releasing limited edition special items only available at independent music stores.

Metallica's contribution this year will be a live album of their 2003 performance at Bataclan in Paris, France. That venue is the same place where the tragic shooting took place a few months ago at an Eagles of Death Metal concert, leaving nearly 100 people dead in its wake. All proceeds from the sale will be donated to Give For France fund. Metallica announced the limited-edition release will be called Liberte, Egalite, Fraternite, Metallica!. The set list for that show, according to setlist.fm, is as follows:

  1. The Four Horsemen
  2. Leper Messiah
  3. No Remorse
  4. Fade to Black
  5. Frantic
  6. Ride the Lightning
  7. Blackened
  8. Encore: Seek & Destroy
  9. Encore: Damage, Inc.

Last year's Metallica Record Store Day release, a replica of their No Life Til Leather demo cassette, was the highest-selling Record Store Day item ever. Drummer Lars Ulrich couldn't be happier to be participating in Record Store Day:

“Independent record stores are part of Metallica’s DNA. They have been pivotal in shaping each one of us into the music fanatics we’ve all become.

“We could not be any prouder to be Record Store Day Ambassadors for 2016 – we’re looking forward to screaming from every rooftop about everything independent record store and beyond.”
