MESHUGGAH Confirm New Album Title To Be Koloss

Meshuggah Koloss

MORE MESHUGGAH NON-NEWS TO GET YOU EXCITED FOR EVENTUAL NEW MUSIC FROM MESHUGGAH! Last week, we speculated that the new Meshuggah album would be called "Colossos" based on a pre-order page on their German label site, which deemed the title of the album, Koloss. Since Koloss is a German word, the assumption was that the English translation, "Colossos" would be the official title. How wrong we were. Today, Meshuggah confirmed that the title of their eighth studio release will in fact be Koloss. Got that? Drummer Tomas Haake was even kind enough to release an official statement getting me more excited for this new album…

“As always, we try to take our music in a slightly different direction with each album and with KOLOSS we feel that we really nailed what we were going for. Organic brutality, viscera and groove all crammed into a 54-minute metalicious treat, best avoided by the faint of heart!!”

Oh shutup Tomas and just release a new track already. I'm sorry. That was too harsh. I'm just going through Meshuggah withdrawl. Please satisfy my urges Tomas, I need my fix!!!!!

  1. Well.. Koloss means Colossus in Swedish too.. so since they are Swedish that would be more fitting, don't you think?

Yeah, I don't know what genius thought nuclear blast would translate the name of the album for the location of whoever was viewing it. Album names are not just words that can be translated, the artist picked that specific title for that album. No one is calling this band "Crazy" or "Loco".

  2. Here's another interpretation. Kolo is a serbian style dance, and Koloss is music composed in the rhythm of that dance. Let's see those polyrhythmic beats in action.
