KATATONIA Is In The Studio With A New Drummer

IT'S TIME FOR SOME NEW KATATONIA.

IT'S TIME FOR SOME NEW KATATONIA.

For the first time in four years, we'll be getting a brand new Katatonia studio album. The band released Dead End Kings in 2012, did the acoustic version of the album titled Dethroned and Uncrowned in 2013 and even did a live album titled Sanctitude this year! However, none of that besides the first item on that list is new material.

That's about to change, as the band has taken to its own website to announce its new drummer Daniel "Mojjo" Moilanen, formerly of Engel.

”We first met Mojjo back in 2009 where his band at the time, Engel, had joined us and Paradise Lost on a UK tour and we soon realized we shared the same musical background and ideals. We stayed in touch over the years and when Daniel Liljekvist quit Katatonia in 2014 we decided to give Mojjo a call. He has now been with us for well over a year, so far only as a session live member, but now is the time for him to join the Katatonia album cycle and most importantly – make his own impression on our new material. We can’t wait to see what this will lead to. Love him up!."

The band also ends that statement by saying that it's in Studio Gröndahl with engineer Karl Daniel Lidén, which is ridiculously exciting! Will the new stuff be as heavy as Dead End Kings or continue down the acoustic path the band has been on the past few years? No matter what, I think we can all assume it's going to be awesome.
