AS I LAY DYING Limited Edition Vinyl Reissues Planned For January

Will there ever be new music?

Will there ever be new music?

It's been three and a half years since As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis was given a  six-year sentence after he was arrested and eventually convicted of solicitation of murder for attempting to hire a hitman to murder his now ex-wife. He only served two and a half years and was released last December. Fans and critics immediately wondered on the status of his main gig, As I Lay Dying.

A few months back, there were reports that Lambesis has enlisted an entirely new band to back him in a relaunch of As I Lay Dying. Lambesis has been relatively quiet on social media, but his band's label, Metal Blade Records have decided to resurrect As I Lay Dying in the form of some limited edition vinyl reissues. ThePRP notes:

On January 26th Metal Blade will be launching limited edition vinyl pressings of 2003’s “Frail Words Collapse” on opaque brown/opaque yellow vinyl and 2005’s “Shadows Are Security” on opaque blue/opaque yellow vinyl. Both are expected to be limited to 1500 copies each. Amazon have pre-orders up for both pressings here and here respectively.

This could mean that the band is getting ready to reactivate, or it could also just mean Metal Blade decided to do a few reissues without any consideration for the future of the group. It should be noted that the last time Lambesis publicly spoke about Metal Blade, Lambesis was not speaking positively of them, because they refused to let AILD out of their contract. When Lambesis released an album from his side project, Austrian Death Machine, Metal Blade did not release the album, but rather licensed it to Rise Records. It sold very well. Did Lambesis mend fences with the label? I'm thinking yes.

As I Lay Dying fans, will you be buying these reissues?
