I can remember pretty clearly.. for me it was somewhere around age 11, 12, (so just a little over 20 years ago, I guess). I went on a weekend camping trip with boy scouts, and a friend of mine (who was a couple years older) had brought along an Overkill tape. It wasn't like anything I ever heard before, I felt like I couldn't stop listening over and over.
betwen the buried and me got them into metal, wtf guys, your to cool to listen to metallica or what? cut the crap everybody knows you started with limp bizkit
It wasn't metal that go me into metal and heavy music, it was Bruce Springsteen, the boss!
Rage Against The Machine. When Evil Empire came out, I started getting into the scene.
Between the buried and me
All bodies got my goat,
twas stuck in my head for days,
and days.
....and then i bought colors.
LIFE CHANGE.
I'm 14 going on 15 right now and I can recall when I got my very first taste of heavy, aggressive music. When I was about 3 My mom used to always play "The Stooges- Raw Power" and "Van Halen- Van Halen" as she cleaned the house and I became so enthralled that I used to always ask her to turn those albums on. I then started into stuff like Slipknot, Korn, and System of A Down as i neared my teens. Then I started branching out into Death, Black, Thrash, and Folk as well as progressive elements of metal. But i will always remember those two albums...
surprised no one said the almighty Slayer
Not that anybody cares, but my special moment first exposed to metal was when I was about 13 years old and listening to the opening drums of Lars Ulrich of Metallica on the Garage Days first edition, the song HELPLESS. I approached my buddy that had it blasting downstairs and asked him: What was that drumming sound? Metallica Helpless, from then i was exposed to Slayer, Iron Maiden and still listening to them today, thats real music... horns up!
cannible corpse really got me into metal, and went on from there
im 16 and it started when i was 12,,,my sis always listened to slipknot and system of a down,,slipknow was ok but i fell in love with SOAD,,after that it was metallica, slayer,,,,now its children of bodom, sepultura, job for a cowboy, and all kinds of death and black metal
First exposed to metal was when about 7-10.
Video games helped out a lot.
im 18 now.
Thanks to my mom, I was fed on Led Zep and Uriah Heep. Being old school, I would say Metallica's Master of Puppets did it for me. Artists that keep me listening to metal: Mastodon, Devin Townsend - both right up there at this point in time.
Ever since I was a baby my dad would play metallica then as I grew up he played system of a down, korn, kill switch engaged, (I'm 14 btw) and then when I hit around 12 i started with slipknot and got into Lamb of god from there and then I just started listening to all fuckloads of genres of metal xD
Fear Factory got me into metal when I was about 11 or 12.
2nd grade stevie ray vaghn
9th grade korn, deftones, some slayer, and metallica
by 12th heavy into sepultura(still my fav) fear factory and all the above..i love metal and alway will...no stoppin now
Guns n Roses when I was about 17...Sweet Child of Mine...Welcome to the Jungle-I guess was my first little taste...then I met my 18 yr old sons daddy and he took me to my first concert--Anthrax, Megadeath, Alice n Chains & that's where it really begun....not a die hard fan of metal.....but I do love it...esp. when the mood is right.....favorite song still to date--LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR!!!!
what got me into metal was my dad he bought a hatebreed album and gave it to me after listing to it wasn't his thing i guess but from there on from age 10 my dad got me into biohazard , soundgarden , and korn/mudvayne witch i have seen live but besides that metal has made many things better in life i will listin to metal till the day i die
i'm not gonna lie and say the band that got me into metal was black sabbath because i'm only 25. my first introduction to metal was metallica and then everyone else....
.. and i'm not saying that these following bands aren't good, i like them too, but i think it's weird that these people cite between the buried and me and slipknot for getting them into metal. i mean i personally don't think btbam and slipknot haven't been around that long really to influence people to start bands but their fans are fairly loyal. it guess it makes sense on some level because the contortionist is shitty generic deathcore that is only relevant and popular now so i can see how btbam and probably every other shit deathcore band influenced them to make shit trend music
When i was 7 my dad started playing Rage Against the Machine Live at the Grand Olympic Auditorium to get me pumped up for hockey games haah
machine head and meshuggah
Gorillaz -> Guns n Roses -> Disturbed -> Cannibal Corpse -> Now
I had dabbled in Metallica a bit but Pantera - Far Beyond Driven (especially 5 Minutes Alone) is what got me. Then a buddy hooked me up with Black Sabbath and Megadeth and the rest is history. Shit really hit the fan when I got into Sepultura!
Slipknot, then Cold/Korn/P.O.D., then Fear Factory/Mastodon/Chimaira and local hardcore/metal bands.
First time I saw the video for "3 Little Pigs" by Green Jelly. Then Metallica and Pantera.
Haha for me it was Godsmack, Metallica, and idk Korn haha, The very first DEATH METAL bands I ever listened to were Suffocation and Insision xD
Job for a Cowboy and Between the Buried and all the other Hot Topic bands on here are gay mallcore bullshit for hipster posers. Fucking douche bag losers saying Slipknot got them into metal. Pathetic.
Pantera when I was 12 did it for me.
