Texas' Worn & Torn is excited to share with ya'll some new hardcore in honor of their upcoming EP

Welcome back to The Core Breakdown! For this week’s installment, we have the first single off of Worn & Torn’s debut EP Caged. Not much is known about these Texas guys, other than at the moment the band consists of Timothy Donnelly on guitar, and Austin Skidmore performing vocals.

The instrumental aspect of “By No Means” sounds mechanical, like a low-tone grinding crunch. At times the guitar dips into shades of melody, but primarily the track focuses on an overall sharp (and somewhat industrial sounding) delivery. Vocally there’s a neat blend of styles going on. At times there are screams that pounce with your expected hardcore punch, to growls that produce inflections one might hear out of The Devil Wears Prada. Putting these vocals and instrumentals together creates a whirling brutality of shredding distortion.

Worn & Torn appears to be pretty new, so show the fellas some love and stream “By No Means” below. Caged will be released September 23rd (which you can pre-order here). You can also find the band on Facebook. Once again, thanks to tuning into this week’s The Core Breakdown, and see ya’ll soon.
