Another casualty of the music business! Over the holiday break, it seems the final nail was put into the coffin of The Human Abstract, as the band have pretty much announced they have broken up. Earlier this year, they were dealt a crushing blow when vocalist Travis Richter decided to leave the band. They found a temporary replacement and did a few tours, but it seems like that was the last we'd hear from the band. This bums me out. Travis Richter announced on his Tumblr yesterday that he decided to leave The Human Abstract. In a statement posted on his Tumblr page, Richter stated his reasons being that he just is over being on the road, and wanted to spend more time with his family and working in audio production. Periphery Headlining Tour

Oh happy day! The Frak The Gods Tour, featuring Periphery, The Human Abstract, Textures  & The Contortionist was announced a few weeks back, but no dates. Today, we have these dates and dates are a plenty. The tour kicks off September 3rd in Raleigh, NC hitting major cities all over (creeping in for stops in Toronto and Montreal) until wrapping up on October 8th in Baltimore. Periphery Headlining Tour

Woah! This is a monster tour announcement. Periphery announced their first ever North American headlining tour to go down between September 2nd and October 8th. The band will be bringing some shredders with them: The Human Abstract, Textures, and The Contortionist. I'm in! Unfortunately, no dates have been announced yet. We'll keep you posted but for now, perhaps this bit where Misha Mansoor met Metal Misha will hold you over.

Human Abstract Tour

I cannot stop listening to The Human Abstract's new album, Digial Veil. It's perfect in almost every way. The shred is great, the clean vocals are great, the drums are awesome, the songs are epic… it's all just so satisfying to the ears. Which is why I'm extra excited the band just announced a headlining tour all throughout the US this Spring with some heavy hitter support acts including Scale The Summit, This Or The Apocalypse, Letlive, No Bragging Rights and Across The Sun. A six band bill! This isn't even a fest, just a regular tour. Remember when shows had 2 or 3 bands a night? No? I'm old! Here is the itinerary: (more…)

The Human Abstract is currently on the road with The Atticus Metal tour. Guitarist A.J Minette will be checking in frequently with updates from the road. Read previous updates here. This is the third edition of those updates, which was originally submitted last Thursday, while we were at SXSW:

It finally happened! ///Digital Veil has been released. The shows have been amazing since the release, I couldn’t ask for more. We have the best fans in the world. We played our CD release show in Omaha Nebraska, on the 8th, and the response was great. The room was packed, the kids were rowdy, and they were chanting for an encore. After months and months of waiting to release this record, it was satisfying to have such a warm reception. We bared the freezing cold and snow in Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa. It was all worth it. (more…)

The first week of the Atticus Metal tour has been great. The shows have been great and the rest of the bands are a blast. After months of preparation it is satisfying to finally be out on the road again. Things were running smoothly for the first several shows, until the “check engine” light came on in our van. Having broken down several times before, we decided to take the van into the deal to get fixed immediately. Our transmission and radiator were shot, but the Warranty Gods protected us, and all was taken care of. I’ve never heard of a mechanic installing a transmission and radiator within 24 hours, let’s just hope everything stays put.  (more…)
