CD Review: THE CHARIOT – One Wing
The Chariot has always been good if you really appreciate the hardcore roots of certain facets of metal. They usually present a great raw product, as well as that awesome sense of chaos with the math elements involved. However, a good amount of press has been done on their latest album, One Wing and how the band calls it their “weirdest” release to date. I assumed this meant they would take their style in a slightly different direction, like perhaps more math, or maybe something more melodic. But after hearing One Wing, I see that their statements are to be taken quite literally. (more…)

EVERY TIME I DIE, THE CHARIOT, LETLIVE, KILLS AND THRILLS Announce Winter 2012 Tour
I got really excited when I saw Every Time I Die announced a tour with The Chariot, Letlive & Kills and Thrills, because that is an excellent package, built for fans to sweat it out in the pit. Then, I saw they aren't coming to New York City which was upsetting. But they are hitting a ton of "secondary" markets, so if you don't get tours coming to your area that often, this might be your big break to catch a fun one. Here is the complete routing: (more…)

THE CHARIOT have released a new song
The Chariot have just released a brand new song entitled "in" from their forthcoming new album One Wing which hit shelves on August 28th through eOne/Good Fight Music. The song is the seventh track on the new album and is typical of what fans come to expect from The Chariot. There is nothing out of the ordinary here, although everything the band does tends to be out of the ordinary. So the band's new album seems to be full of chaotic time signatures and strange noises, but like I said, that is nothing new for Josh and the crew. (more…)

Scream It Like You Mean It Tour Officially Has Most Confusing Routing Ever
In all my years of writing about music (damn, it's almost a decade now..) never have I come across a tour routing as confusing as the Scream It Like You Mean It Tour. It's actually two (or maybe three) tours that run separately at some points and then intersect at others for mega-shows. I think? It's sort of three different tours, the two singular tours and then the third, combined Voltron tour. I am a fan of some of the bands on the tour like The Acacia Strain and The Chariot, and then not so crazy about others like Attack Attack! and Impending Doom. But despite my feelings, here is the really confusing tour routing: (more…)

New Documentary Asks Smaller Metal Bands Why You Do This?
Why You Do This is a new documentary created by Car_Bomb vocalist Michael Dafferner. It showcases his band's struggle with trying to earn a living by touring and playing music. The documentary covers several years of the band's touring, concluding with their first big tour with Gojira and The Chariot. Throughout the piece, Dafferner tries to dissect why he plays the type of music he does. The hour long documentary also features interviews with Randy Blythe from Lamb of God and Richard Christy of Charred Walls of the Damned among others. It's a good viewing for anybody interested in starting a band that goes out and tours as it shows the reality of the situation. Not every band explodes and is playing arenas from day one, there is a struggle, which is greatly documented in this piece.
For those that want to obtain a physical copy of the documentary, you can purchase Why You Do This for $10 bucks at http://www.whyyoudothis.com.

THE CHARIOT To Rip The US A New One; Announce Dates With Vanna, The Crimson Armada
The Chariot rule live! They come from that same school of punk rock stage shows as bands like Dillinger Escape Plan and Norma Jean, yet bring their own fury to the live show. I just remember seeing these guys with my jaw dropped multiple times at the visceral power they were giving off. It's always a fun time to see these live, and now you'll have a chance as they have announced a November/early December headlining run with the likes of Vanna, The Crimson Armada, Former Thieves and Listener. Here are the dates: (more…)
