We were out in full force for the party of the season, Lamb Of God, In Flames, Hatebreed and Sylosis rolled into town last Friday to crush our eardrums at the Roseland Ballroom in NYC. Photographer Rodrigo Fredes was in the photo pit snapping some great shots of all the bands. Check out the photo gallery here.
A mere four years have passed since Sylosis' inception and they’re already on the cusp of releasing their third record – Monolith; an ambitious concept album from the young English quartet.
Although the word itself defines a large block of rock or stone, it also shares its name with a tale of tragedy. Basing a concept on a theme of Greek mythology is more usually than not going to procure heavy, dark connotations and the story of Orpheus and Eurydice allows purposeful comparisons to be drawn to the twisted and selfish side of human nature, perhaps even very ambiguously around the seven deadly sins, although not quite as defined. A/V Roundup: GWAR Covers Kansas, New music from SYLOSIS, THE SWORD, ANAAL NATHRAKH, ENCRUST, HOLY GRAIL, MUTINY WITHIN
We don't do an A/V Roundup for a few days, and then it happens, an explosion of new music. Today we have a killer new live performance from GWAR, as well as new tunes from Sylosis, The Sword, Anaal Nathrakh, Encrust, Holy Grail and Mutiny Within. Let's get it rolling…
GWAR have made their first public appearance with new guitarist Pustulus Maximus. Check out the band covering Kansas's "Carry On Wayward Son" over at AV Club. The band really punked up the tune. (more…)
We knew it would be so! A few weeks back, the first date of Lamb of God's rescheduled tour surfaced and it showed the band will be playing with In Flames and Hatebreed. Today, we have a full routing. In Flames and Hatebreed will join the Richmond metal machine on the first leg of the tour (through November 19th), at which point HELLYEAH will take over. British up-and-comers Sylosis will play to their biggest audience yet, opening all the dates on the tour. You'll note there are no Canadian dates, and that is due to Randy's ongoing trial in the Czech Republic. Enough chitter chatter, let's get some dates: (more…)
Audio Roundup: New music from SYLOSIS, LAMB OF GOD's Mark Morton, ENSLAVED, SWALLOW THE SUN, MONUMENTS
It's Thursday and I'm really excited because I get to see Gojira in a small venue tonight. Meanwhile, a large amount of new music was released into the wild, so it's time for another audio roundup…
Sylosis have unleashed two new beastly tracks from their upcoming release, Monolith. You can hear "Born Anew" on their Facebook page and "A Dying Vine" on their official site. Both are great metal/metalcore tracks and are getting me really excited for this album, which is set to be released on October 9th.
A new Dying Fetus song? Why, yes, please and thank you. Head over to CraveOnline to hear "Dead Whores Love To Fuck" which is an amazing title for a track. It can be grabbed with the deluxe edition of the band's new album, Reign Supreme which can be found here on iTunes.
Need something a little slower and sludgier? Check out the awesome new Hooded Menace track.
Check out these sweet covers for Sylosis' upcoming release, Monolith. I'm assuming one of these, probably the black one, will be for a special edition, but either way, both look pretty gnarly. The artwork was created by Dan Goldsworthy. Fans of Sylosis still have a ways to wait for new music, as Monolith is scheduled for an October 5th release through Nuclear Blast. [via MetalSucks]
This sucks! Sylosis have embarked on what is their first big US tour, having only played in the States once before and a few shows in, guitarist Alex Bailey broke his wrist. Now, he's in a foreign country, traveling with his band, seeing all these places, on the biggest tour of the band's career, and he can't play. Sucks to be him! We hope he recovers quickly and painlessly. For now, the band has announced that Mutiny Within's Brandon Jacobs will be filling in for their tour with As I Lay Dying. Go see these guys, they sorta rule.
This is pretty awesome. Right before opening on As I Lay Dying's upcoming tour, Sylosis want more facetime in the US, so they have announced 5 headlining shows (thankfully one in NYC as well.) See if the band is coming to your town: (more…)
