SOUNDGARDEN Is Ultramega Just OK On Their Comeback Tour
Is SOUNDGARDEN really as great as they're made out to be? The answer can be heard approximately 57 seconds into "Outshined," but it took a few blasts of Superunknown and Badmotorfinger this weekend to make me forgive their listless set at the Prudential Center. (more…)

COHEED AND CAMBRIA Bassist Charged With Armed Robbery
Just when you thought nothing funny would happen this weekend. TMZ reports that Michael Todd, bassist for Coheed And Cambria, was arrested in Attleboro, MA last night for armed robbery where he allegedly held up a Walgreens to score some Oxycontin. The real kicker here is that he allegedly wrote his demand on a cellphone note pad and claimed that he possessed a bomb. He was eventually caught in a cab on his way to the Comcast Center where the band was set to open for Soundgarden. (more…)

SOUNDGARDEN Announce Four US Shows, More To Come
Woah! The last time we heard from Soundgarden, the band said they started writing a new record, their first new material in 15 years. The band has announced they will take a break in July to do some touring. There have been three US dates, and one Canadian date announced so far, with more being promised. Holy shit, I may actually get to see Soundgarden? This is very exciting. Here are the dates so far: (more…)

SOUNDGARDEN Working On New Material
File this under: Not a shocker. Soundgarden have posted a message on their official website confirming they are writing new material. The message reads:
Our goal for 2011 – Let’s Make A Record
“Over the past few months, we’ve been busy jamming, writing and hanging out together – exploring the creative aspect of being Soundgarden. It feels great. We have some cool new songs that we are going to record very soon. Thank you for all of the support!Loudest of Love,
Ben, Chris , Kim and Matt“
While I wasn't a fan of Chris Cornell's solo work, I am a fan of anything guitarist Kim Thayil does, so this will be a must listen for me. Plus, I think the band has some semblance of integrity and would actually try to put something out that doesn't completely fucking blow. Right? While the band writes and records, perhaps this recent live performance from Conan will hold you over.
SOUNDGARDEN: Telephantasm Due out September 28th
So I was checking my inbox this morning and found an email from the Soundgarden fan-club site. The email announced the artwork had been released for Soundgarden's new retrospective compilation, Telephantasm. The artwork is pretty interesting, so I figured I'd share some of it here.
Telephantasm comes out in the US on September 28th.
As you may have noticed, Soundgarden has put out a new single called Black Rain, an unreleased track from the Badmotorfinger sessions. If you haven't listened to it yet, I highly recommend going to the Soundgarden website and let it remind you of what real rock music sounds like. If it comes from the Badmotorfinger era, its pretty easy to just assume that it's awesome. (more…)
A/V Roundup: New SOUNDGARDEN track, KATAKLYSM album streamm, CAVE-IN live and more
A new week begins and new music is released. Here are today's musical treats for you:
All you fans of post-hardcore are most likely looking forward to Cave-In's upcoming self-released live CD, Anomalies Vol. 2 — Live In Italy. You can get a taste of it with the above clip.
Kataklysm are streaming a new album, Heaven's Venom on their MySpace page. The album comes out August 13th in Europe, and the 24th here in the States.
Relapse announced the signing of another band, Broughton's Rules and after checking their MySpace page, I can confirm they in fact rule. Their debut release is scheduled sometime around November.
Uhh, Limp Bizkit posted a new track. Do you care?
Our Charles Bro-sons at MetalSucks tipped us off that a new Soundgarden has surfaced on a Seattle radio station website. While it's an unreleased track, it was actually recorded during the Badmotofinger sessions in 1991. The track will be officially released as part of the band's Telephantasm retrospective, out on September 28th.

SOUNDGARDEN is back and headlining Lollapalooza
Remember the first big news story of the year? Well, we finally got an update–SOUNDGARDEN have announced their first tour date, ending their 12-year hiatus with this message on their website:
“We are proud to announce the official launch of Soundgardenworld.com. We will be adding more content in the very near future, so stay tuned. One last thing….Soundgarden will be one of the headliners at this years Lollapalooza festival. We hope to see you all on August 8th at Grant Park, Chicago Illinois.
Ben, Chris, Kim and Matt“
I don't even care that the tickets are pricey (duh) and most of the Lollapa-lineup sucks–(what did you expect?) Soundgarden is back with every member from the classic era, plus the promise of more "in the near future." Pray for a full tour, start taking loans and thank the rest of the band for saving us from another CHRIS CORNELL/TIMBALAND collaboration. Also, remind yourself how much this band rules (man, feels great to not have to write "ruled" anymore) with "Jesus Christ Pose."
SOUNDGARDEN is officially reuniting

Happy 2010! The first sign that the new decade is going to school you (and an addendum to one of 2009's top stories) arrives in the form of this message on SOUNDGARDEN's website:
"The 12-year break is over and school is back in session. Sign up now. Knights of the Soundtable ride again!"
Sign me up! I don't even really know what this means, but the thoughts of KIM THAYIL's talents are being put to use again, CHRIS CORNELL getting back where he belongs and hearing "Jesus Christ Pose" live are enough to reaffirm my faith in all things awesome. We'll be posting updates as we get them, but until then, here's a dose of "Outshined."

TADGARDEN = SOUNDGARDEN – Chris Cornell + Tad Doyle
Below, my friends, is an extremely special video. What we have Tom Morello introducing right here is, for all intents and purposes, basically a SOUNDGARDEN reunion. It's Kim Thayil, Matt Cameron, and Ben Shepherd of SOUNDGARDEN with Tad Doyle of TAD live at Crocodile Rock in Seattle, and it's just what I needed to see right now. This makes me forget all about that pile of shit that Chris Cornell just put out on Tuesday!
Here is the reintroduction of the Garden (minus Cornell) and Tad, with the classic "Hunted Down". Rock on, guys!
"Spoonman" and "Nothing To Say" after the jump…
