Watch Corey Taylor and Dave Grohl Jam On A New Song and more from the Sound City Players Performance at Sundance
We've been talking about Dave Grohl's Sound City documentary forever and it's set to debut on video-on-demand services on February 1st. This past weekend at the Sundance Festival, the documentary made it's premiere and was followed by a huge concert of the Sound City Players which featured Grohl and some of his collaborators on the project including: (more…)
It seemed so promising. Slipknot booked a Japanese date on Ozzfest and announced they will be a part of this year's Download Festival. Previously, members of the band (namely Joey Jordison) have said that once Corey Taylor and Jim Root wrap up their tour cycle with their other project, Stone Stour , which he hoped would be in early 2013, the band would enter the studio to finally work on new material.
But, according to Corey Taylor, it look likes Stone Sour will be busier than planned, and not finished with their touring until 2014 at the earliest. (more…)
While it doesn't look like we're getting Ozzfest in the States anytime soon, Ozzfest Japan 2013 is looking stacked. Previously, we reported that the two night festival happening May 11th and 12th will feature Slipknot and Black Sabbath headlining each night, respectively.
Over the weekend the fully rounded lineup was announced and WOW! (more…)
Last year, some musical genius combined Slipknot's "Psychosocial" with 18 year old pop star Justin Bieber's "Baby" into a pretty impressive mashup. While I am not to judge one for their personal musical tastes, a Justin Bieber fan I am not. But this was a good mashup.
Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor is also a fan, saying that he's invited Biebz to perform the mashup in person. (more…)
Not all of us are thrashing to Slayer out of the womb… it all takes progress. And I love hearing about people's journeys.
Coolest motherfucker in music, Dave Grohl is working on a new documentary about the legendary recording studio, Sound City. Part of the film sees many famous musicians discussing their first musical memories. We've already talked about Lars' first memories previously, now let's focus our eye on the Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman, Corey Taylor: (more…)
Last week, we posted the new Stone Sour video for "Gone Sovereign" and it was quite a ripper, but more on the hard rock side. Today, the band unleashed a new track, "RU486" which leans much heavier on the metal side. I'm really enjoying these two tunes, and I'm actually pretty pumped for the new album, House Of Gold & Bones: Part 1. Take a listen to the track: (more…)
A growing trend in the music industry is for musicians to create comic books as a way to supplement their music and/or their income. Claudio Sanchez of Coheed and Cambria has made a living off this by illustrating the story line behind his band's albums. Other notable musicians who have dabbled in the comic book world include Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine and Gerard Way, front man for My Chemical Romance. (more…)
The news that Slipknot was announced as the final headliner for Download Festival 2013 should have maggots everywhere excited, even if they're not planning to attend. The band will headline the opening night of the fest, Friday June 14th with Iron Maiden headlining the next night, and Rammstein closing out the three-day rager. Why is this great news? Let me explain. (more…)
Slipknot were deeply affected by the passing of their bassist, Paul Gray, after accidentally overdosing in 2010. The band have slowly been putting back the pieces, hitting the road in tribute to Paul and putting the wheels in motion on a new record. Everybody is writing, and it turns out before his passing, Paul Gray wrote some material that will most likely appear on the record according to percussionist Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan, who said: (more…)
Paul Gray, the late Slipknot bassist who was found dead in his hotel room roughly two years ago could have been involuntarily killed by his physician, Daniel Baldi.
According to the Des Moines Register Daniel Baldi is being charged with eight counts of involuntary manslaughter. One of those counts is Paul Gray. The case against Daniel Baldi states that the physician allegedly prescribed large amounts of narcotic painkillers to eight patients (including Gray) who later died of overdoses. (more…)
Slipknot's Corey Taylor is over it when it comes to today's music scene. He recently contributed some quotes to an op-ed over at Bloody-Disgusting on the current state of music, and needless to say, Mr. Taylor is not amused, saying: (more…)
