Holy shit, is this going to be a thrashin' good time. Skeletonwitch are total road warriors, as evidenced by their just-announced Fall 2012 headlining tour. If you look at the routing, you'll see this is basically a non-stop two month trek. Who the hell goes out for 2 months straight anymore, the fuckin' 'witch, THAT'S WHO! They will be taking out Havok and Early Graves on the first half, and then Havok & Mutilation Rites on the second half. Here are the dates, courtesy of our bromeos at MetalSucks: (more…)

SKELETONWITCH Announce Tour with BARNBURNER
Skeletonwitch are absolute road dogs. I don't even think they have apartments, they just live out of their van, traveling to any location that will have their pillaging ways. In doing so, the band has become one of the most entertaining and consistent live acts to see. They have just announced a new headlining run for the summer with some help from their friends in Barnburner. The tour kicks off July 13th in Pennsylvania and wraps up a month later in Illinois. Here is Skeletonwitch's full summer routing, including European dates: (more…)

KVELERTAK & SKELETONWITCH Are Touring The US (And Playing Our CMJ Showcase)
Kvelertak absolutely crushed it when we saw them at SXSW earlier this year, and we were left wondering when we would see them again. Well turns out, they'll be playing our CMJ showcase on October 21st at Clup Europa in Brooklyn, NY. Not only that, but Skeletonwitch are coming along for the ride as well. Our showcase is going to be insane! For the rest of the country, don't fret. The two bands will be doing a short run of dates across the States and they are bringing Zoroaster with them. Here are the dates: (more…)

SKELETONWITCH Are Not "Reduced To The Failure Of Prayer"
Skeletonwitch is set to release Forever Abomination on October 11th, and besides posting a second video update from the studio, they have released a new track as well, "Reduced To The Failure Of Prayer," and it is non-stop agression. I have a feeling this album will be in my regular rotation for a while. Check out the track: (more…)

SKELETONWITCH Drummer Is Over It
Looks like Skeletonwitch's (now former) drummer Derrick "Mullet Chad" Nau is over touring. The band announced he will be leaving the band to pursue art school full time. The band made it clear there are no hard feelings, and his decision will be respected. The Athens, OH natives have already found a replacement in Tony Laureano, who has played with such acts as 1349, Nile & Dimmu Borgir. So, all should be well in the 'witch camp. Here is the official statement from the band, along with their latest tour dates: (more…)

Live Review: SKELETONWITCH, WITHERED, LANDMINE MARATHON, IPSISSIMUS – November 28th – Toad's Place, New Haven
You say Skeletonwitch, I say bangover. You add Withered and Landmine Marathon, and I say call me an ambulance. This combination of bands is an invitation to a mangled neck. The lineup was traveling under the banner of the “North American Skullsplitter Tour,” and didn't plan on coming anywhere near New York City. Toss recent Metal Blade signees Ipsissimus onto the bill, and I had an excuse to extend my Thanksgiving weekend with a roadtrip to New Haven.
I'd been to Toad's Place in New Haven once before, over a decade ago. This show took place on the floor above Toad's, in the quaintly named Lilly's Pad. The space bears an uncanny resemblance to a corporate midtown Manhattan bar and appears to be an incongruous spot for a metal show. There's no semblance of a stage, and the bands' backs are up against a bank of windows that look out onto the street. If there's anything I've learned lately, though, it's that compact spaces equipped with stacks of amps make for metal magic. (more…)

SKELETONWITCH Announced Headlining Tour w/WITHERED & LANDMINE MARATHON

Skeletonwitch might be banging over in Europe right now (and sending us some funny tour diaries) but that doesn't mean they aren't planning ahead to kick ass back in the states with a headlining run. I am upset the trek isn't hitting the NYC area, even though I've already seen the band at least 10 times. Still, they never disappoint. Plus, they are bringing two incredible bands with them in Withered and Landmine Marathon, featuring the praying mantis of metal, Grace Perry. Here is the routing:
11/19 Columbus, OH – Ruby Tuesday (no Withered)
11/20 Toledo, OH – Frankies (no Withered)
11/21 Dekalb, IL – Otto’s Nightclub (no Withered)
11/22 Lansing, MI – Mac’s Bar
11/23 Windsor, ON – Chubby Pickle
11/24 London, ON – London Music Hall
11/25 Hamilton, ON – Absinthe
11/26 Kingston, ON – The Mansion (Wine Cellar)
11/27 Rochester, NY – Montage Music Hall
11/28 New Haven, CT – Lily’s Pad at Toad’s Place
11/29 Frederick, MD – Krug’s Place
11/30 Greensboro, NC – Legitimate Business
12/02 Oklahoma City, OK – Conservatory
12/03 Denton, TX – Rubbergloves Rehearsal
12/04 Austin, TX – Red 7
